***Contest ending tonight at 12:00am***
Me waiting to see if this is something that people will enjoy or not.
Hey there ladies and gents of the Destructoid community! Today, I bring you the first iteration of what will potentially be a monthly contest which offers up free games! Free games! My current plan is to hold this at the end of each month, where I will give away several games, whether they be from Humble Bundles, Humble Monthly, or elsewhere. Each month will feature a different contest, which can be a wide variety of things! For example, in order to put yourself in the running to win one of the games being given away this month, you simply have to draw (pencil and paper, paint, photoshop, anything goes!) what you imagine a Dtoider of your choice looks like. No submission is expected to be a masterpiece. Artistic skill is secondary to creativity as far as this contest is concerned.
Since this month is a test run to gauge whether or not this is something that you fine folk would be interested in, the selection is sparse. In the event that this takes off, expect future giveaways to feature more/better games.
Games being offered: (Steam only, minus the giftcard)
Beatbuddy: Tale of the Guardians
Cook, Serve, Delicious!
Moon Hunters + Soundtrack
A 20$ giftcard for your system of choice (Steam/Xbox/PSN)
1) Draw (using any medium you choose) your interpretation of what another fellow Dtoider looks like.
2) When leaving your submission in the comments, make sure to include the name of the game you want.
3) One submission per person.
4) Keep your artwork within the Community Guidelines!
5) Keep it friendly. Don't make any personal attacks on another member through your submission.
6) Have fun!
Entries for this month's giveaway will be closed at 12:00AM EST on October 1st.
In the event that games are left over after winners are chosen, those that made submissions but did not have their submission chosen will be thrown into a raffle, where they will be able to pick one of the remaining games. In the event that submissions are not made/everyone that submitted something got a game, the leftover games will carry over to next month's giveaway. <-(Initially I had it as "leftover games will be first come, first served" but I think this system is better.)
Remember, creativity is valued more than artistic merit! Don't be shy to make a submission even if you aren't confident in your artistic abilities. If it's inspired and creative, it's perfectly within the realm of possibility to beat out a more technically impressive, but less inspired piece. Hopefully this is something that is interesting to you guys and gals, and I hope you have fun with it <3
