Little more than a year ago, the idea of someone like Bayonetta making it into Smash Bros. seemed patently ridiculous. Then her game came out for the WiiU, people fell in love with her all over again, Nintendo turned her into an honorary mascot, a ballot for Smash was announced, and the rest is history.
And now here we are, days away from the Wicked Witch of the WiiU's official release.
Personally, I'm feeling the hype all up in my business. I haven't been this hyped for a character since Snake or Shulk. That's not to say I wasn't excited for other complete wildcards like Ryu, Cloud, Mega Man or Wii Fit Trainer, but to be honest I never played much of those guys' own games. On the other hand I loved the hell out of Bayonetta 1 and 2, and Bayonetta herself skyrocketed up my list of favorite characters. It goes without saying that I voted for her in the ballot.
I haven't delved into her gameplay videos that much yet. I want to get a feel for her by myself first. From what I've seen though, she's a combo machine. That's going to be a lot of fun, though hopefully not as finicky as Ryu. If nothing else, it'll be fun watching her dance all over the battlefield. The only way this could be better is if I were an ass-man.
Little more than a year ago, I didn't even know I wanted Bayonetta in Smash. And now here we are, and I can't fucking wait.
