I just spent close to 70€ on yet another book about video games (840 pages about Konami games on MSX). And I still haven't written the review of the point-and-click adventure game coffee table book. I should put my priorities straight.

I'm hoping to find people interested in talking about (old) video games on Discord one day. And I mean voice chat, not just typing.

"If you would escape moral and physical assassination, do nothing, say nothing, be nothing" -- Elbert Hubbard. Hence I now intend to remove my accounts from several different sites (if they're still even up).

I thought I'd write a blog detailing all MSXdev'18 entries (retro game dev compo), but looking at how much I hadn't seen in an MSXdev'17 entry (see the video) despite attempting to play it for some time... yeah, I don't think I will.

My GOTY of 2018... 3) Go Vacation. 2) Obra Dinn. 1) Rogue Aces. That's about every 2018 game I've played and can think of fondly right now.

I'm not ready for 2019 to arrive. But at least next year and tomorrow will never arrive.

Thinking I should try writing a blog on how I'd use procedural generation to make a metroidvania map, in greater detail than "Step 1: throw metroidvania into trash."

Looked back at my 2018 resolutions... I did write the gravity game blog, but not one on MySims. Didn't partake in fundraisers or Patreon, either, which is a failure on my part.

Even with the grace of Rabbid Peach, will we ever see her in Rabbid Six Siege?

Played through Valthiria Arc on Switch once. Lackluster dungeon design, messy combat, many plot leads that led absolutely nowhere. Supposedly the game has multiple endings (might explain the above leads). I'm writing a quick judgment on the game.

I expect there are people here who appreciate this rendition, no matter which day of the week it is.

Writing a blog on Startopia; installed it from CD, but it didn't even start. Hoping GOG or Steam versions fare better when I get back home.

I may be running out of Xmas chiptunes I'd recommend.

I have no recollection where I got Hero Siege from, but I don't like it.

Mech-on-mech -- what's taller than a Balam? Two Balams stacked. And Argos and Erginus, but let's forget those. (Just playing EDF4.1 because no PS4.)

Got Flip Grip today. I think I'm done with Switch physical stuff for the year. Behind, the Toki Retrollector edition "arcade" thing and Giana Sisters TD Owltimate. Missing just the SNK collection from the pic.

Got my last Switch games of Dec 2018 -- altogether, that'll be Giana Sisters Twisted Dreams Owltimate Edition, Toki Retrollector Edition and SNK 40th Anniversary Collection. I'm sensing a pattern here.

Somehow, I find it easier to replay games I've already finished before rather than start with a new game. Picture... of a game I decided to replay. From 2005/2006, still works in Win10. Still don't understand the Japanese dialogue, though.

If I had to try playing either Driveclub or Club Drive, I might choose the latter. Not because I'd expect to like it, but it sounds like an interesting experience.

December's pretty alright after all... Chris Huelsbeck has finished his new hypothetical Amiga game soundtrack ("Rise of the Machine"). And Project Rob's "Rob Returns" (sample video linked) is out.

The music and game length aside, I'm impressed by how the "1-player cooperative" gameplay in Goonies (C64) looks like.

Got a SCART-HDMI-adapter, which I can now use with my HDMI capture device. Not really sure why I'd do that, though. (Image taken from ZX Spectrum Vega, the game is Saint Dragon)

Demake I'd be curious to try.

It took Go Vacation for me to get hooked on fishing in games. Or maybe because I've been fishing quite a bit this year and Go Vacation had the first fishing minigame I've played this year.

Honest question: If I write a game for a platform from the 1980s, is it called a retro-themed game, a retro game or what?

Monopoly Deal (card game) has no business being as fun as it is with the words Monopoly and Deal in its title.

A trivia bit on November's BoB prompt that never became a blog: the bonus fruits in Pacman were slot machine bonuses. (See video at 35:40)

I was a "Magical Sound Shower" fan until I became a "Camino a Mi Amor" fan.

My best "black friday" purchase: twenty pairs of socks. Beyond that, a SCART-HDMI converter that'll hopefully let me use a HDMI capture device for older/less well conceived devices (like ZX Spectrum Vega) and Giana Sisters TD: Owltimate Edition.

About Flegmaone of us since 11:34 PM on 01.17.2015

Very much unprofessional writer, don't take anything I write without a truckload of salt.

On a hopefully long-term break from saying anything.
