Sorry about the massive picture up there, I wanted everyone to be able to read it.
I was having a bit of a chat with Cowzilla3 last night, and the topic of the Top 50 from Monday
came up during the conversation. The subject veered to how I actually decided what game got what position. It's easy really, I made the games fight to the death.
I've picked up many marketable skills working the various jobs I've had over the last few years, one of them being working with MS Excel. Most of you recall that I made a list of games that I own a few months back, I rifled through that list and picked out a good 39+ games that I owned and searched my own memory to find the rest to fill out the list. By the time I had them all layed out on the spreadsheet, I had much more than 50 on the list. Time to start cutting!
Getting rid of crappy games on the list wasn't the hard part. Attempting to rate the fifty leftovers was the hardest. I set up a spreadsheet with the fifty games listed vertically and horizontally on the battlefield. Looking at the spreadsheet, if you are going horizontal across the list, say with the first game (Animal Crossing Wild World
) if there is a "0" then it lost against the game listed in the vertical column (like Bionic Commando
) . If there is a "1" then it "won" against the game in the vertical column (such as Dead Rising
). I worked on this list for two full nights before I had my order. From there I just typed and typed until it was finished.
I hope that this wasn't too deathly boring for you all. I just wanted you all to see how serious I am about all that I write here on Destructoid. Also, this gives you a little sneak peek on how I am going to end up working on my next epic list. Thanks for reading!
