{Wordtoid} Fast means both Quick and To Abstain From Food (e.g. Breakfast), but the root is the same: To Harden. This is easily seen in the word Fasten. Quick is derived on the notion of "running hard", the food sense comes from "hardening yourself".

What movie quotes do you say either out loud or in your head when certain things happen?

Wait a... THIS IS JUST CURSEDMAS ALL OVER AGAIN.

All of the recent (and very good) Metroidvanias haven't given a sense of fatigue for Bloodstained for anyone,I guess? Feels like that would be true for me, on some level.

For what it's worth (and this isn't a dig), but I missed this and others pointed out that Banjo-Kazooie's moveset is modeled off of Duck Hunt's. Meaning several of their normals (A moves) are identical or only slightly modified in terms of their animation

Just wrapped up a fairly lengthy Cblog post analyzing the Smash Ultimate trailer for both Hero and Banjo-Kazooie and their movesets. It's only a long scroll because of all the images I posted, I promise.

In case people didn't catch it, the DQ Hero is a semi clone of Link.

Oh, I see it's Disable Loading Images Friday

The Stadia stuff is priced too good. This stuff is going to fly, despite the bad infrastructure in the US. Also, "Stadia Base" sounds like the first thing to get dropped later on. It's an onboarding level of service for skeptics. It won't last.

World charting video game series only takes 21 years and no alternative to finally spend a lot of money on production values.

I hadn't realized until now that FF7 is full of several insipid, inscrutable minigames. I must have spent 10 minutes trying to figure out how to march in that fucking line. Cool.

The results of the last Melee tournament... oh baby jeebus.

An original assumption on the function of the brain was as an organ to help cool the blood. I love that kind of stuff.

Someone like me, who you might recognize as a wordy person, is not a lover of grammar. Grammar is the science of language and uncomfortable neighbor of art -- a mess in the chaos.

Sensors indicate a larger than expected quotient of wienerage in the last episode of Chernobyl. Satisfaction levels dangerously high.

Started playing Sundered, a metroidvania that I think is easily lost in the shuffle. But it does some very good things with conventions of the genre, it even does procedural generation in an interesting way.

The Chernobyl miniseries continues to be a profoundly good piece of work.

Since everyone else is doing it, my spoilies in the comments:

Picked up Hyper Light Drifter again after having beaten it a while back only to notice "New Game Alt" mode with a completely different character that doesn't use a sword. Is this new? Maybe I just glossed over it because I started an NG+ file before.

A friend texted this to me. What a manipulative, shitty piece of propaganda. This coming from an employer says a lot.

What if an indie dev makes a spiritual successor to Jet Force Gemini? Like a low-poly game with sharper visuals and modern controls. That would make me a happy boy.

Comic Book ad blog number three has been posted. Do please enjoy.

The next entry in my new blog series showcasing comic book ads has been posted (or it will be when the Dtoid site catches up). If anyone still can't see the images, let me know in that comments to the blog and I'll put them in there... again. sigh

I'm not even sorry about it, my brain is naturally hilarious. In a dream I was reading something and it described someone's legs as "butt arms". In the dream I was laughing. I'm still laughing at this.

Been kicking this idea around for years. I want to upload pics of old comic book ads from the many I have lying around that were mine and my brothers spanning the late 80s to the early 2000s. Look for it in the cblogs, one issue's ads at a time.

This video is part of a very good trend of people speaking out about working conditions in game development and is part of the increased unionization talk for US labor overall. Good stuff.

Am I just noticing it more, or are people saying "hell yeah" more often than they used to lately?

Hello, curious browser. I've been a reader of Dtoid for several years now and continue to enjoy the unique sense of community around these parts. I think I'll stick around, if ya don't mind.
