Yes, you did in fact read that correctly. If you missed Mouse's announcement last Friday or didn't notice when he told (warned?) the forums about today's recaps, I've joined the team. Contrary to what you may have heard, this does not mean the end of the world. Our manager reviews new candidates with a great deal of scrutiny and had no objections to my addition as a reserve member. Therefore, I suppose my best advice to the community at this point is:

DON'T PANIC

I'll save long stories about my life for some other time, since mostly I'm doing the same thing a great number of you are doing as well, i.e., finals week. No further information is required or will be provided. Anyway, here's a summary of what those of us with spare time wrote today. There was a lot of news, a few videos I didn't really understand, and some people being profoundly unhelpful. "Splooging out his internal organs" is not an offical recap category.

*-Heykupo demonstrates how Bayonetta is so ridiculous, it's actually pretty good. This is the first time I've seen "campy" used in a positive sense, and it works quite well.
*-CrazyBlue thanks the indie community for getting him through university. See, I told you casual games can be loads of fun!
*-Togail shows us his setup, which is far more than a few boxes with HDMI connections. I'll just confess to being jealous now.

A-AndrewG009 writes about the film, I mean the game, Gears of War 2.
A-TheDustinThomas has a long, long blog about wrestling games.
M-Gilgamesh1317 has a convoluted relationship with the Disney-Square crossover Kingdom Hearts series.
M-Mollygos was happy with Final Fantasy X ... until Square just had to put in some nonsense sequel!
M-Kavahn isn't certain what to think of World of Warcraft, good and bad experiences alike.

F-Electro turns FNF into a cutlery skirmish.
S-Flamma is upset about being stuck at home ... with a 360 ...
S-Dr. Light had some, um, issues with Gamestop.com.
I-AlphaDeus the composer had a bit of a rough start, but we'll welcome him anyway.
I-Ok Abacus comes to us from the depths of the IRC.

N-BahamutZero saw ... what?
N-MegaStryke is probably overreacting to this news of Mega Man 10.
N-Lucariotrainer13 is a little more sedate about Mega Man 10.
N-NihonTiger90 needs to pratice at Soldier.
V-Volomon rages against Infinity Ward for not seeing this coming.
T-VApathyv has some more bands to rock out to.
T-Kavakn suggests an MMO with a focus a bit different from usual.
T-ILoveLists doubts we'll see a Zelda film.
T-Kevin has some guesses as to the content of Halo: Reach.
T-Drowkin pense des varients entre les joux FPS.

M-DTunes Day 3 under Nekobun has a distinctly Eastern flavor.
F-Genki-JAM livestreams anime, which is TV, so it goes here.

L-Blehman has a few games that you didn't play, at least in full.
R-TheJesusNinja26 is angry about anger.
C-I do sympathize, but this feels incohesive.

S-Most of this has already been covered, sorry.
F-I just can't get excited by two seconds of video.
F-The video wasn't all that impressive, but ... why then copy the script?

Current "Bloggers Wanted" assignment
Crowdfunded

It feels like it's been a decade since we've seen the rise of the crowdfunded game. I'm always surprised when I remind myself that crowdfunding has been a thing long before the first crowdfunded video game, but nowadays a crowdfunded game seems like a dime a dozen.

Of course such a phrase is an incredible disservice to some of the great games that have come out thanks to websites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo. Games like FTL, Shovel Knight, and even Undertale are around thanks to crowdfunding; thanks to people gathering around and literally putting their money where their mouth is, a game they want gets funded and inevitably the greater landscape of gaming benefits from it. Most of the time the landscape gets to benefit from it anyways.

Don't worry though, this month's bloggers wanted prompt isn't an exploratory thesis on the effects of crowdfunding on video game development. We just want you to talk about your favorite games, as long as they were crowdfunded. This topic can be simultaneously broad and narrow, because you can talk about whatever game you want, however you want, as long as it was crowdfunded.
For me, FTL is the original crowdfunded game, and it was great. It was somehow minimalist and incredibly detailed at the same time, and it was all done because a man wanted to do it, but needed the money, and thousands of other people wanted to see where his idea would go. Shovel Knight to me feels like this natural evolution of the classic 8-bit gaming of yore without also throwing myself back to a time when gaming was honestly comparatively archaic. And everyone's talked to death about Undertale, so we all know where I'd go with that.

To participate in this month's bloggers wanted, just start a blog! Oh, and title it "Crowdfunded: [your blog title here]." I bet this month is going to be pretty diverse, since it's basically writing about your favorite crowdfunded game. So I hope to hear about some good games revisited or amazing games no one has heard about.

Remember: Persona 5 was not crowdfunded, but excuse me as I plow through it.
