LONG BLOG

Cblogs of 07/12/12 and Mangasms

   0

I'll be back to less stark, mechanically functional recaps soon enough. Going through some stuff, and some things. Don't have a single moment of desire for any kind of creativity or levity.

Poop.

I hope that made you laugh, it's the best I can do right now.

* - I want these on my wall.

* - I feel automatically compelled to topsauce some members here. In fairness, I always read the blogs first. I topsauced this one after being wary of topsaucing it based on the fact that Occams wrote it and I love him. But then I topsauced it anyways because it was great. Funny how these things work.

S - The second part of a very cool new series.

A - Some people like Dark Souls, and other people are COMMUNISTS. But in all honesty, this is a pretty fair look at Dark Souls from the perspective of someone who isn't just a raving fanboy...and a Communist.

A - A neat look at risk and reward systems, specifically those in the roguelike genre.

M - Some musings about 2012.

M - More o' that, and BRAAAINS

M - Lots of musings this month.

T - A neat look at Steams new TV oriented interface.

T - Some short thoughts on Braid.

L - Yes, a DS emulator would be helpful to all. Oh wait - if you want to steal DS games, you could just get an R4 or something. Or just not be a dick and buy them since they cost about as much as the gum I spit on the ground last night. But whatevs.

R - Some *yawn* thoughts about......zzzflurgh, sorry, Ahem. Star Wars *nnnnggg* Old rep *yawn* ublic.

R - zzzzzzz......

R - And more stuff. About stuff.

F - I suggest using the Wii U to drop on small crabs at the beach. It is an excellent crushing device for small crabs. Alternatively, you could rip the guts out of it, and use it as a home for said crabs if you are against the crushing of small crabs. I find that crushing the crabs into a fine paste first makes them much easier to can for later consumption. But the choice is yours, really. I'm sure the Wii U has other functions also, but I mostly just use mine to crush and eat small shelled beach denizens.

Current "Bloggers Wanted" assignment

Overcoming Fear

We’ve all been there. A game presents us with a moment or situation that fills us with dread. It could be the inexorable approach of a supernatural menace or looking down from the top of an impossibly tall building. Games will play on your fears and push you. But how do you overcome and prevail?

In honor of the ween of hallow and the month of October, the Bloggers Wanted prompt is all about “overcoming your fears in video games.” How did you face the digital demons and pixel poltergeists? Did climbing in Assassin’s Creed make you feel dizzy? Or do underground levels make you feel like you can’t breathe? Everyone has this moment in gaming. You can scoff at the mirror room in Silent Hill 3 but break out into a cold sweat if you see a clown. So what do you do to get past this? Have any tricks of the trade or anecdotes that you’ve picked up along the way? We want to hear about it.

Take us to your moment and how you dealt with that fear. Let us see into your heart and reach out to touch the quiet truth of your words. All you have to do is write your story in the Cblogs and format the title as “Overcoming Fear: [your blog title here].” It's delightfully easy. You may even find your story promoted to the Front Page. That’s always a treat.

You’ve overcome this fear. You have this story, this moment. Why not share it with us? Maybe your story can help someone else overcome their fear.
