Cblogs of 06/29/14, 06/30/14, 07/04/14 and 07/05/14 + bbainisms

Hello friends! I'll be recapping four days this week. Why so many? Well, last Sunday and Monday were apparently missed, so I figured I'd cover them now since this weekend was incredibly slow for Cblogs anyway. Sorry about all the blogs that haven't been recapped recently, folks!

In other news, this weekend was the 4th of July! I mostly just worked during the holiday (lame), although I did go over to my sister's on Friday to eat some of their leftover cookout food. The only fireworks I saw were the random ones my neighbors decided to shoot off. I think this was the first year where I missed seeing a big fireworks display. Also, I found out that my cat is incredibly terrified of fireworks! It's kinda weird, because loud thunder doesn't bother her at all. I guess fireworks kinda sound like gunshots or something? I dunno.

As for gaming, I didn't play too much this week. I finished all the acts of Kentucky Route Zero that have been released so far, and I have to say that the end of Act III left a pretty bad taste in my mouth. The first two acts built up a very mysterious story, which seemed to be about ghosts and strange locations, and I was really digging the game up until the middle of Act III. Then they introduced Xanadu, a very meta game-within-a-game, which contained all of the characters you meet in KRZ as characters in this game. It took me entirely too long to figure out how to get through Xanadu, and I was getting irritated and hoping for the act to end soon. Then they did a flashback to an earlier scene, where they reveal some weird thing about skeletons running a delivery service under a church, and then a ferry with a woolly mammoth on it pulls up, and by then I'd just sort of lost all interest in the game.

It was sort of the same reaction I had to watching Lost. The show started off very promising, with mysteries and storylines that you wanted to learn more about. But then they just kept piling on the mysteries. Mysteries upon mysteries. And none of my questions about these mysteries were being answered. So I stopped watching the show. That's basically where I feel Kentucky Route Zero is headed. The initial mysteries were interesting enough, but now the story is becoming way too convoluted. I'm not sure I'll continue playing the game once the rest of the acts are released. Maybe I'll just wait to hear if it's worth it or not.

Haven't played much else lately, other than Animal Crossing which I've still been busy with. Anyway, enjoy the 'caps, and hopefully we'll get back to a more regular recaps schedule soon enough!
