Three caps in a row, plus dealing with a sick family, plus yet another weekend of graveyard shifts?

Pure. Machine.

I recently posted a contest where you could draw some horrible looking food related abomination to win a copy of Shadowrun Returns. Just want to say thanks to everyone who entered; there were only, like, three of you, but it was fun all the same. Here is the winning picture, the lucky creator (Brutal2d) of which received his copy of the game yesterday, even in the face of the apparently game breaking patch that a lot of people have been struggling with. Hope it works out okay, pal, because it really is a fun game; I got my game working again this morning after deleting a particularly finicky piece of user generated content. I should also amend yesterdays caps by saying that it wasn't Life on a Limb I was playing and disliking before, it was A Lost Lamb. Life on a Limb, despite pushing the limitations of the software by having abnormally large maps with lots of things going on in them, is actually a lot of fun, and is quite difficult to boot.

Speaking of games no one else really cares about, I put ten hours into Time and Eternity before calling it quits. I have played a lot of shit RPG's in my time, with at least a handful of those being published by NiS, but this was by far the worst. I traded up for Ar Tonelico Qoga, which in comparison, is like Final Fantasy VI had a baby with Chrono Trigger, even though it too is just average on its own. Nevermind how embaressing it is to play a game in front of your wife where the main mechanic in battle is girls literally stripping to "get more power somehow" or whatever; but I have kind of come to accept that kind of dumb horseshit from the genre at this point, whether I like it or not.

Anyways, I'm feeling under the weather, so I wanna get these bad boys done. There aren't too many of them today, fortunately. Have a good week everyone!

* - Honathan Jolmes is a hard working man. Check out his audio review of Pikmin 3, and more importantly, enter to win a pair of Teenage Pokemon underwear featuring everyones favorite degenerate, Ditto! (I honestly typed his name wrong as a total mistake, leaving it the way it is for the ridiculousness of it.)

P - Episode 17 of the Scary Granules podcast. There are enough podcasts around these days that no one should have to be bored at their terrible night job in a warehouse where Christmas music occasional plays over the PA! At least, I know I'm not.

M - Gaming with SeymourDuncan17 is a complicated affair. Gaming with me is a lonely one where I make you sit in the bathtub while I play Sonic 1 and eat popcorn.

M - Duncan Mitchell talks about what it's like to game with him. Jeez, I didn't know that was a thing you could do with people? Well, aren't you just a bunch of social butterflies!

A - Wanna game with Tarvu? Here are some of the things you can expect.

E - It's not too late to enlist as a Weekend Warrior, chummers.

T - An interesting look at jiggly bits. Honestly, I think we are all just fascinated with big bubbly spheres bouncing around.

V - A review of the new Red vs. Blue. My cap just got super rhymey right here.

S - I guess this is a response to the new Bloggers Wanted? It will surely grace the front page in no time.

Current "Bloggers Wanted" assignment
Changes

It feels like it's been a decade since we've seen the rise of the crowdfunded game. I'm always surprised when I remind myself that crowdfunding has been a thing long before the first crowdfunded video game, but nowadays a crowdfunded game seems like a dime a dozen.

Of course such a phrase is an incredible disservice to some of the great games that have come out thanks to websites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo. Games like FTL, Shovel Knight, and even Undertale are around thanks to crowdfunding; thanks to people gathering around and literally putting their money where their mouth is, a game they want gets funded and inevitably the greater landscape of gaming benefits from it. Most of the time the landscape gets to benefit from it anyways.

Don't worry though, this month's bloggers wanted prompt isn't an exploratory thesis on the effects of crowdfunding on video game development. We just want you to talk about your favorite games, as long as they were crowdfunded. This topic can be simultaneously broad and narrow, because you can talk about whatever game you want, however you want, as long as it was crowdfunded.
For me, FTL is the original crowdfunded game, and it was great. It was somehow minimalist and incredibly detailed at the same time, and it was all done because a man wanted to do it, but needed the money, and thousands of other people wanted to see where his idea would go. Shovel Knight to me feels like this natural evolution of the classic 8-bit gaming of yore without also throwing myself back to a time when gaming was honestly comparatively archaic. And everyone's talked to death about Undertale, so we all know where I'd go with that.

To participate in this month's bloggers wanted, just start a blog! Oh, and title it "Crowdfunded: [your blog title here]." I bet this month is going to be pretty diverse, since it's basically writing about your favorite crowdfunded game. So I hope to hear about some good games revisited or amazing games no one has heard about.

Remember: Persona 5 was not crowdfunded, but excuse me as I plow through it.
