LONG BLOG

Cblog Recaps of 2/5/14 and POKEBANKISMS

   0

First thing's first, two blogs were criminally upcapped. That's a word right? Still, I don't know how you don't notice a blog unless it magically popped up just as you were posting, but here you go.

AboveUp posted a round of challenges issues to the forum dwelling monstrosoes. The topic? Draw the cover of your favorite games!

Also, I didn't see my blog about Log Horizon get capped. It's an anime about an MMO where the global community of players are trapped in the game's world. Rather then fear death, they face purgatory with in-game immortality.

Now with that out of the way,

Pokebank!

POKEBANK!

POKEBANK!

I finally, finally got some of my most wanted Pokemon transferred over to Pokemon X. Finally, my suicide lead Aerodactyl can begin and my Whimsicott can start a cutesy reign of terror against set up sweepers with a priority boosted Encore. Finally, my previous shinies can roam freely in glorious 3D! Albino Rhyperior! Here we go!

If I can figure out where I wanna put a slow-ass, rock/ground wrecking ball.

Only time will tell how I can make teams to accommodate my new additions but its certainly revitalized my interest in playing Pokemon X again. And if you have anything negative to say about Pokebank, you're free to express your wrong opinions. We're on the Internet to share our opinions no matter how wrong they are. Its a sign of strength and will power really to demonstrate how wrong you are.

I also just switched over from Verizon to T-Mobile using their unique break up promotion where they take care of your early termination fees. It was a great deal as I save money overall on my monthly bill but upgrade to a newer phone and there's no contract service. Finally, I jumped from an iPhone 4 to an iPhone 5s and its nice to experience something a bit more cutting edge every year. I mean, 8GB to 16GB? That's a useful leap for all my downloads.

Well, if you want more caps, here's a taste of how I've been spending some of my idle time since discovering Inside Gaming on Youtube.

In between Inside Gaming, as you'll see from the caps filler pictures, I've been on a One Piece bender, rewatching some of the best fights on Youtube. The only anime worth its longevity currently. Dragonball Z ain't got nothing on this shit.

* - The Hoff examplifies some talented artists who helped him on his projects

* - Poupadopolis reveals unto us a gem of an obscure, Japan only tale called Segagaga, a true love letter to Sega fans before the fall of the Dreamcast and a biting satire of the game industry, at least back then

* - Spielerdad gets all Inception on us and documents his dreams based off of recent experiences and the fact that he plays games. He plans to pop in DOA Xtreme Volleyball soon

M - Jorgy waxes on his time spent on Link's Awakening, a key part of his past

M - Dwayne realizes the cycle of games and the enjoyment he derives out of some of our longest standing choices

A - Where the hell is the interest in a second Dreamcast supposed to be?

R - Starpoint Gemini 2 is only in alpha but it feels like a beta! Fishsticks is a delicious food and a lucky gamer!

N - SAGE stands for Sonic Amatuer Game Expo and Overbound is excited for the next big amateur Sonic game

R - For me, Gravity Rush is something I don't know much about since I don't own a Vita. Troy lets us non-Vitas know exactly what it is

V - Strummbummer compares GTAV to the lyrics of Kanye West

F - Starwolf has a thing and it might be a gender inspecific genitals

F - And he never came back to check on his blog!

Current "Bloggers Wanted" assignment
Changes

It feels like it's been a decade since we've seen the rise of the crowdfunded game. I'm always surprised when I remind myself that crowdfunding has been a thing long before the first crowdfunded video game, but nowadays a crowdfunded game seems like a dime a dozen.

Of course such a phrase is an incredible disservice to some of the great games that have come out thanks to websites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo. Games like FTL, Shovel Knight, and even Undertale are around thanks to crowdfunding; thanks to people gathering around and literally putting their money where their mouth is, a game they want gets funded and inevitably the greater landscape of gaming benefits from it. Most of the time the landscape gets to benefit from it anyways.

Don't worry though, this month's bloggers wanted prompt isn't an exploratory thesis on the effects of crowdfunding on video game development. We just want you to talk about your favorite games, as long as they were crowdfunded. This topic can be simultaneously broad and narrow, because you can talk about whatever game you want, however you want, as long as it was crowdfunded.
For me, FTL is the original crowdfunded game, and it was great. It was somehow minimalist and incredibly detailed at the same time, and it was all done because a man wanted to do it, but needed the money, and thousands of other people wanted to see where his idea would go. Shovel Knight to me feels like this natural evolution of the classic 8-bit gaming of yore without also throwing myself back to a time when gaming was honestly comparatively archaic. And everyone's talked to death about Undertale, so we all know where I'd go with that.

To participate in this month's bloggers wanted, just start a blog! Oh, and title it "Crowdfunded: [your blog title here]." I bet this month is going to be pretty diverse, since it's basically writing about your favorite crowdfunded game. So I hope to hear about some good games revisited or amazing games no one has heard about.

Remember: Persona 5 was not crowdfunded, but excuse me as I plow through it.
