LONG BLOG

Cblog recaps 11/29/08 +Randombullisms

   0

I'm going to try and recap todays blogs, based off of the opening lines. Lets hope I'm accurate as possible! If I made a major mistake, can someone else look over my shoulder and fix it for me? Thanks a lot. Hey can you get that? Thanks a lot.

Oh hey, Bonerquest had a test version get passed around. I heard it wasn't working now to download it, so I guess those that have it are playing it and seemingly enjoying it. Some places not as much as the others, but I'm getting some good feedback. Also cocks. No really. It seems some areas are full of random battles, the dialog is funny, and I guess the game is playable. Rather difficult to install, but once you get past that, you're ready to rock with some old school style role playing action. One fella described it to me in an message as being like zelda and pokemon mixed with my type of humorous nature. You know, dick and fart jokes. I've been told I do that well. Course, I've also been told that Destructoid recaps are important and that everyone reads them. Does anyone ever read these posts I write here? I'm sure one guy does. You're awesome sir. Or lady even. Thanks for reading my posts. I try to read peoples posts, but often times now I'm so busy with stuff. I can just sort of skim over things.

Just in case you missed it in our chat, I've bought some new games on the xbox three hundred and sixty. I'm now part of the Gears 2, Fable 2, and Saints Row 2 club. If any of you wish to play some of those, my gametrag is the same as my name. (randombullseye just in case you don't know who I am. Which saying that makes me think of the Juggernaut cartoon.)

I guess I didn't pick anything today. Some decent posts today, I might read through some of the Chrono Trigger DS posts. Maybe.

A- This post is about an HDTV and I think something about their xbox as well. Don't know what catagory or section to put it in, so article under word it is.

C- SSF2HD Tournament for you playstation three fellas.

?- Retroforce GO music fans check out this post. Someone has something in mind that involves retroforce and music.

N- Playstation 3 has new dual shock charger and wireless keypad coming out. Says it has a video in the blog title.
R- Mirrors Edge review
R- Review of Chrono Trigger DS
T- Something about 2008s video games, I think.
T- Chrono Trigger DS something about it.
T- Another Chrono Trigger post, from someone that hasn't played it before.
V- TF2 Mass AI
V- Fallout 3 video. Sounds like it might be about dancing or something. Perhaps it is humorous?
?- I want to say this is about Street Fighter 2 and that new version of it, but maybe not. Sure seems like it from the little description in the opening lines. I like how destructoid has that.

A- A community member is doing a comic.
F- ShiMoNi continues with Leonord Part Six. Swat Kats, Megas XLR, and Pokemon also mentioned.
?- Something arrived from Canada.
?- Someone went to Japan on a field trip or something. I assume this is the first of many posts about that trip.

V- Destructoid's editor in chief is old.
V- A post about a video taking someone back to their childhood. I put it in other, assuming it was an other related video post.
?- Something about Linux. I don't know exactly what they're talking about.
?- Made a robot aparantly.
?- Another website needs help or something.

I guess I didn't fail anything either today. Some stuff seemed less interesting than others, but just for politeness sake and that nothing seemed glariingly fail, I guess there wasn't any.

-(randombullseye)

Hopefully I can devote some more of my free time towards Bonerquest. If you're curious where Random SElect was yesterday, I won't be doing it for a few weeks. I want to get Bonerquest finished and then concentrate on doing the blog thing. Unless of course someone hires me to do blogs proffesionally, then by all means you'll see somemore random select such as Missile Command or something else like that. I want to do more Golden Age stuff. No one seems to talk about the Atari or Colecovision, and gosh darned it, I'm just a bad enough dude to talk about that stuf. Have fun guys and keep it clean.

Also left in spelling errors today. Hopefully none of my code work here messes up. Oh well!

Villains that did nothing wrong

Villains in all media, not just video games, can end up being a dime a dozen. Far too often, a villain's motives boil down to "I am a bad, and so I do bad things. Fear me." While this format has worked for countless stories, at this point in my life (the ripe old age of 20) I’ve become jaded and grumpy, finding myself rolling my eyes when I see yet another antagonist wreaking havoc with no background or reasoning presented as to why they’re being such a butthole.

What’s far more interesting to me is when a villain’s motives or actions come across as justified, perhaps leaving you rooting for them to defeat the protagonist [insert Elder God Tier villain meme here].

My favorite example of this would be Meruem from the Chimera Ant arc of Hunter x Hunter. While he doesn’t necessarily fit the exact mold I laid out above, he’s easily one of the most dynamic and curious villains I’ve ever come across. For the sake of not spoiling what is perhaps one of the most exciting, action-packed, and tear-inducing arcs in anime history, I won’t delve into the details of what makes Meruem so great. Instead I encourage anyone who hasn’t seen Hunter x Hunter to set aside some time and plow through the series. Really, it’s that good.

But hey, that’s just how I feel. I’m sure there are folks out there who prefer their villains to be simple. If I ever met one of these theoretical people I might have a panic attack, but I’ll deal with that should the time come. I’m sure after some deep breaths we would get along. Maybe we could even snuggle, should my husband allow such an event to transpire.

All said and done, we arrive at the topic of this month’s Bloggers Wanted: Villains that did nothing wrong. Due to communication errors, this entry in the hallowed halls of Bloggers Wanted is a tad late. Regardless, all you have to do is head over to the Community Blog section of the site, and whip up a Cblog about a villain who you feel was secretly the good guy all along.
