Or maybe Raiderisms? Reppin' mah Tomb
Monday FTW. It's been a long time comin', but it finally came.

One of the big games that came out last week was Tomb Raider. It being a big reboot with marketing and controversy all around it made almost certain that people would look to see what happened with it. There was a fear that it would be sexist in some manner, mostly because a choice person or two opened their mouth and said stupid things.

I don't know if I should do a review proper, because I barely touched the multiplayer. It wasn't very fun. But I can say, based purely on the single-player, I would recommend purchasing. I think there were some missteps in making Lara more "human," because the violence is a little crazy, but overall is was just straight-up good. The open-ish island is nice for exploring when you're not in gunfights, with lots of secrets to uncover. There are some neat optional "tombs" to go through, though they're incredibly short and pretty simple. It's more fun to explore the island, which is where everything takes place throughout the entire game. One big ol' island.
Oh man I'm running out of time again...
In short: Lara is a bad motherfucker that now feels a bit more like a person. It's a damn fun game, with solid shooting, so-so melee options, good exploring, beautiful visuals, an okay story, and zip-lining like fucking crazy. I really enjoyed this game. Probably my favorite Tomb Raider.

Whilst raiding tombs, I found these ancient CAPS, for you:

* - UsurpMyProse has a lovely tribute to the top 10 games he will never touch, because of that evil bastard Steam.

* - NickCull may have found the fountain of youth. (Hint: it's videogames)

* - WILL YOU BE PAYING ONE THOUSAND MOTHER FUCKING DOLLARS FOR A VAPOR CUBE?? THIS ORWELLIAN ZOMBIE WRITER (WHO IS HIM) SURE WON'T!!

A - What's the first image in your head when someone say, "female NPC?" Does it involve someone nude or bloody? GlowBear says, "Yo; goober! Where's the meat?"

P - Words of Crom returns after a brief hiatus with Episode 13: A Video Game of Thrones.

A - Scary Hair Studios completes "Four In February" and writes about it. Good stuff!

A - Indie Spirit. Why doesn't it exist pervade the industry moreso? I hate to bust out Captain Obvious, but DanielCampbell thinks there is hope.

C - VoyToid needs to pay off some student loans, so he's having a really nice sale on some 360 and Wii games + bonus stuff.

S - OmegaPlatinum has some GREAT PAX tips for y'all. Are you ready?

C - Neonie is back around, and has some thoughts on what Dtoid should do for him. Video content seems important to him. Proper promotion of proper video content. Get to it, Dtoid!

D - See how POstudios teamed up with Jane Jensen and how they got more betterer at writing.

T - lv99ron is back up in the blogs, and loves him some Kamen Rider. I have to agree, Battride War looks fapworthy. Import that suckaaaaa

T - Paul Allen (Hey Paul!) talks about the fancy PC bits inside the PS4.

R - Warriors: Legends of Troy gets a "NO" out of 10.

T - pk fire plays the Monster Hunter Ulitmate 3 demo in front of people who become horrified. It is pretty brutal when you think about it...

T - MMORPG trailers are...very similar. Carsten Busold shows us the way.

V - Colorwind a.k.a. Rainbow Fart a.k.a. Esteban Sky Cuevas(?) playes the Genesis game Eternal Champions. get some nostalgia!

R - DanielCampbell video reviews Arcadecraft, an XBLIG. Looks pretty good!

T - ANGER. Daata6 has it. You know what guys? Just don't buy SimCity. Don't.

Current "Bloggers Wanted" assignment
Crowdfunded

It feels like it's been a decade since we've seen the rise of the crowdfunded game. I'm always surprised when I remind myself that crowdfunding has been a thing long before the first crowdfunded video game, but nowadays a crowdfunded game seems like a dime a dozen.

Of course such a phrase is an incredible disservice to some of the great games that have come out thanks to websites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo. Games like FTL, Shovel Knight, and even Undertale are around thanks to crowdfunding; thanks to people gathering around and literally putting their money where their mouth is, a game they want gets funded and inevitably the greater landscape of gaming benefits from it. Most of the time the landscape gets to benefit from it anyways.

Don't worry though, this month's bloggers wanted prompt isn't an exploratory thesis on the effects of crowdfunding on video game development. We just want you to talk about your favorite games, as long as they were crowdfunded. This topic can be simultaneously broad and narrow, because you can talk about whatever game you want, however you want, as long as it was crowdfunded.
For me, FTL is the original crowdfunded game, and it was great. It was somehow minimalist and incredibly detailed at the same time, and it was all done because a man wanted to do it, but needed the money, and thousands of other people wanted to see where his idea would go. Shovel Knight to me feels like this natural evolution of the classic 8-bit gaming of yore without also throwing myself back to a time when gaming was honestly comparatively archaic. And everyone's talked to death about Undertale, so we all know where I'd go with that.

To participate in this month's bloggers wanted, just start a blog! Oh, and title it "Crowdfunded: [your blog title here]." I bet this month is going to be pretty diverse, since it's basically writing about your favorite crowdfunded game. So I hope to hear about some good games revisited or amazing games no one has heard about.

Remember: Persona 5 was not crowdfunded, but excuse me as I plow through it.
