C-Blog recaps of 3/23/13 + 3/24/13 + Philgasms

   0

Welcome to the weekend recaps! Once again we ride together to enjoy all the lovely (and not so lovely) c-blogs this weekend has thrown at us. Not a lot this weekend, so that's kind of nice considering the week or so I've had. That's neither here, nor there though.

Y'all motherfudgers hear about XCOM coming to iPad? AWWWWW YISSSSS. I think it's pretty damn cool at least. That's XCOM on 3 machines in my house. Even more important than that though, was the tease of a bigger threat coming. Does this mean sequel? An expansion? I straight gives no fucks. Either makes me happy as hell. I'm betting sequel though. Anyone who has beaten Enemy Unknown, knows what was said about testing at the end. Firaxis has the engine nailed down now, so really a sequel just needs add a ton of stuff and more maps please. Seriously the same ole damn maps are my biggest gripe about EU.

I can't say anything else has really grabbed me, news wise from PAX at least. Mercenary Kings looks pretty damn amazing and just my type of game, but that's it for me out of all the new stuff (Well Dishonored DLC, but that's DLC). I'm always down for awesome 2D co-op action. Anything Metal Slug-y gets an instant look and sale from me. Doesn't hurt the art is absolutely gorgeous (Paul Robertson gets ALL THE HANDIES!).

Alright, enough bullshitting. I don't have anything to get all passionate about and I don't feel like whining in the recaps (that's for my personal blog), so let's get to capping eh?

*- A drunken ode to Kyousuke Nanbu. Sauced for leaving it up and owning it like a man. Otherwise I'd fail you for your drunken rambling taking up space and not even being spell checked.

The Adaptation

Some things don't belong in this world and yet they are conjured time and again by humans that wish to pay them tribute. A video game, book, comic or TV show becomes popular and later becomes adapted to another medium entirely or, worse, a mobile phone spin-off.

Sometimes you get Telltale's The Walking Dead and other times you get Super Mario Bros.: The Movie -- one a great tribute to the comics and TV shows and the other had its soul stolen and made a '90s movie executive's slave.

And here comes another classic game series with hopes of becoming a Netflix hit as I brace myself and hope it doesn't turn out to be a miserable pile of secrets.

Castlevania is a beloved series and with Konami it's sort of a surprise they'd do anything with it at all after running out the people that made their games good and running the franchise into the ground soon after. Yet here we are with an anime series debuting this week and I'm kind of excited for it.

History should leave me a bit more cynical, sure. I remember the Street Fighter live-action movie, the Zelda cartoon and much more, but Mortal Kombat was perfect in its camp and The Witcher games are pretty faithful to their source material. We even have games being adapted into other kinds of games by different developers. Borderlands is now a looter-shooter and a point-and-click adeventure and that works really well, actually.

So for this month's "Bloggers wanted," we want you head over to the community blogs and tell us about your favorite adaptations of games to other mediums or even your favorite adaptation of another medium to games. Use "The Adaptation: [Your game/title here]" in the title and place "Bloggers Wanted" in the tags.

Enough talk, have at you!
