Did you miss me?

How about now?.... WELL FINE! I missed you though :(

HOLY CRAP I'M BACK! Damn have I missed you fine folks. What's happened in the month I've been gone? The worlds ended twice, Christmas is tomorrow, people are pointing blame everywhere (but where they should), GOTY awards and lists up the wazoo, that one thing with the guy... LOTS OF STUFFS! We're not here for any of that though. You folks are here for some sexy caps regarding this past weekend, aren't you? AREN'T YOU? TELL ME THE TRUTH MARTHA! Moving on....

Before I cap this place up and down (and possibly all around, haven't made my mind up yet), let's sit down and chat. Where has ole Phil been? Now, you probably don't care, but fuck you. I'm telling it anyway. I was in the process of moving to my new (and ballah) house, when that big ass storm hit Sacramento. The one with the flooding? Yeah, that one. Well guess who had his phone/cable lines trashed in said storm? That's right: Charles Duncan. But also me! Since so much damage happened, I've had wait forever for AT&T to get out here and fix it all. Then I had to wait for them to fix their fuck up that they made doing that. Then... anyways, now I'm here. With you all. As I should be. Your hive mind sex god has missed you and is no longer hindered by only being on a phone. Let's do some capping shall we?

*- ManWithNoName is sick of your whining. STOP WHINING! No, he didn't say that. I'm stuck in Arnold mode after Jingle All The Way.
*- Alphadeus drops the music of 2012 on our asses. Boosh.
*- EpicKx gives us his best for 2012 and does a damn fine job of it. I was going to fail him out of spite, but fuck it. It's Christmas. Merry X-Mas Silky.

P- These assho...HEY GUYS! It's episode 6 of Scary Granules! Ooooo it's X-Masy and reeks of pine too....
A- A very entertaining read on Ground Zeroes by Bory Borham. Featuring some MG history and speculation on where it's headed!
S- Marcunio88 continues with day 9 of her 12 days of X-Mas games. Today: Limbo
A- ManWithNoName drops an interesting piece about Brazil's grey market of games. I appreciate folks with grey that get a Brazilian.

E- Weekend Warriors continues and no one plays Monaco with me. F%^K YOU GUYS.
C- Kwamouflage returns with Zentoid 2: We gamers are killers. I dig the layout. Nice.

C- Jetpacksheep gives us a good write-up about always on DRM.

R- Ctate95 busts out a timely review of NFS: Hot Pursuit
V- SirTobbii gives out his soundtrack of the year award and looks like a sexy Fassbender on heroin while doing it.
P- Ctate95 gives us an in-depth look at Elder Scrolls Online. Nope. Not for me.
V- A Pringles Radview of Guild Wars. This does not look easy to make.
T- Sven Wohl shares his overlooked in '12 list.

M- Johnel Lance shares some VG Christmas songs with us all.

C- TheKodu spreads some truth, but needs better formatting and spell checking and flow.
C- WOWitsAwombat needs an intro blog and a longer, more thought out blog period.
R- Kwamouflage gives us Oldtoid. Holy shit, weird doesn't even cover it.

F- I tried not to fail anyone, but GODDAMMIT Esteban, you at least have to type SOMETHING! FFS man.

Wasn't that special? Darn tootin' it was. You folks go have a Merry Christmas or Holiday or whatever. I've got some kids I need to make happy and some Don't Starve to play and blog about. Also, keep your eyes peeled for a special X-Mas Low(er) Tier Podcast episode coming up. It's got a lot of presents :)

Merry X-Mas my virtual family, I love you all. Even you Smurfee. Kind of.... ;)

Make 'em bounce now!

Villains that did nothing wrong

Villains in all media, not just video games, can end up being a dime a dozen. Far too often, a villain's motives boil down to "I am a bad, and so I do bad things. Fear me." While this format has worked for countless stories, at this point in my life (the ripe old age of 20) I’ve become jaded and grumpy, finding myself rolling my eyes when I see yet another antagonist wreaking havoc with no background or reasoning presented as to why they’re being such a butthole.

What’s far more interesting to me is when a villain’s motives or actions come across as justified, perhaps leaving you rooting for them to defeat the protagonist [insert Elder God Tier villain meme here].

My favorite example of this would be Meruem from the Chimera Ant arc of Hunter x Hunter. While he doesn’t necessarily fit the exact mold I laid out above, he’s easily one of the most dynamic and curious villains I’ve ever come across. For the sake of not spoiling what is perhaps one of the most exciting, action-packed, and tear-inducing arcs in anime history, I won’t delve into the details of what makes Meruem so great. Instead I encourage anyone who hasn’t seen Hunter x Hunter to set aside some time and plow through the series. Really, it’s that good.

But hey, that’s just how I feel. I’m sure there are folks out there who prefer their villains to be simple. If I ever met one of these theoretical people I might have a panic attack, but I’ll deal with that should the time come. I’m sure after some deep breaths we would get along. Maybe we could even snuggle, should my husband allow such an event to transpire.

All said and done, we arrive at the topic of this month’s Bloggers Wanted: Villains that did nothing wrong. Due to communication errors, this entry in the hallowed halls of Bloggers Wanted is a tad late. Regardless, all you have to do is head over to the Community Blog section of the site, and whip up a Cblog about a villain who you feel was secretly the good guy all along.
