C Blog Recaps of 12/01/12, 12/02/12, and 12/03/12 + mcgeeisms

   0

Holy cow I should get going here. Today I'm covering for PhelKunSlabbinz on account of he doesn't internet. He doesn't now and never has. Apologies to anyone that feels anyway about it, it was slightly late notice.

mcgeeisms:
-I like my Wii U.
-L4D2 is still super fun; thanks Elsa.
-Why isn't it snowing more?
-Why do liquor stores insist on not selling gift sets until a certain date if they already have them?
-Scribblenauts Unlimited is a very fun rental.
-Hey, hey; here comes Slideshow Mel!... Here comes "Sideshow Mel..." Sideshow Mel...
-There were gunshots a house or two down last night, which delayed me working on these CAPS even more. Instead, I was waiting in the dark with a bat, and some other, considerably sharper, objects in case anyone tried to come into my house. Fun times.

CAPS: The Motion Picture in 2014.

* - Yeah. Nintendo Power was a huge part of my young life, and really got me more into games than I was before. bigboss0110 has the same feels, and so shares with us his memories, and the cover of the bittersweet last issue.

* - knutaf was pretty enamored with La-Mulana. Enough to write this blog, and an in-detail guide/notes that prove this game (and possibly our buddy knutaf) is a little crazy. I'm convinced; I must try it.

* - Snealiv got Bioshock Infinite early somehow! Also, it's definitely the end of the world, Mr. Snealiv.

* - See what Voltech's brother has caused? Another very in-depth piece, this time, about Skyward Sword. He takes his brother's complaints as points of discussion, and addresses them one a time. Eventually we see why he likes Skyward Sword, and why he thinks it is a good game. But then he kills everything this blog had going for it by saying he doesn't like Fi. What nonsense.

A - Snealiv gives us his thoughts games through a perhaps harsher lens, because of his ADD. But he might be on to something that holds true for all of us.

S - pk fire is using his experiences in Day Z to inspire some short stories. I am intrigued. *Mr. Burns finger roll*

A - WastelandTraveler has a blog here about Deathmatch. It focuses on a lesser played, but perhaps just-as-good-others DM within HL2.

P - Pocketoid be looking for questions!

P - StriderHoang and ScottyG save our recapping asses with another episode of the Fapcast! #1reasonwhy

A - nategator continues his foray in the now FTP SWTOR, and thoroughly breaks down what you can and can't do for free.

S - Snealiv has been busy. Here he intends to start a series of what are essentially journal entries, as he's playing, about Metro 2033.

A - GlowBear feels guilt for not gaming more. You should game however the fuck you want, IMO. This is all YOUR fault, Destructoid. Now get on the murderbus.

P - Communitoid episode 4 is here for your side-head holes. For a FIRST, Ali D is actually on it! Also, Christmas spirit.

P - ANOTHER new podcast! Binary Chode has risen from the pool that was left behind by Robochode. Also, chodes.

A - SuperCrow makes some very fair points about Assassin's Creed, and says that Dishonored does what AC don't.

A - Snealiv doesn't really like the "gamer stereotype," and says we should be proud to enjoy videogames. I wholeheartedly agree.

P - Taco Tuesdays, not to be confused with Tyra Tuesdays, has another "extrasode." There I go, falling behind on podcasts again.

S - Sir Tobii got a Wii U, so add him as a friend dammit! Also, he seems to be having issues with video chat. HMM...

I - BeatBeat decides to introduce himself a little more formally. I don't know how many times I can say I like his drawings without sounding like a broken record, so just go there and say hello or I will slap you with a dishrag.

E - Weekend Warriors preliminary, wherein we actually got a big group of people to play L4D2 on a Sunday. I intend to keeps it rollin'.

S - CoruptAl125 has a pic blog up for his adventures at IPL 5 and all the cosplay there.

V - Snealiv does a video review for an interesting-looking game: Colour Bind. That's, "Color Bind," for us proper folk.

V - BoboMainframe ends Nintendo WiiK with one more video, where he actually plays the Wii U! Take that David Attenborough! He also has a Wii U commercial pitch.

T - Cyrus loves him some Tales games. You?

T - Games as art. Hot, jiggly, amorphous art. It burns your hands. It slips through your fingers. You can't help it. You are still sad you dropped it.

T - mystakin didn't think XCOM: Enemy Unknwon needed a story at all, really. Do you agree?

R - ctate95 reviewed Pokemon Black & White. Where's the review for B&W2, eh??

T - bigboss0110 is going to tell you about Flashback, an SNES/Sega game from back in that day. Looks a bit frustrating.

T - nategator starts SWTOR in it's free-to-play times and shares his beginning experiences. He liked the free part, and didn't feel that not buying anything limited his enjoyment.

T - sittiet talks a little about Skrillex Quest and sort of slaps a number/10 on it.

T - A little bit of copypasta from Bradley Jones and gw2guides. Helpful stuff, perhaps.

R - TheKodu reviews Snowy Slalom. We could use more XBLIG reviews, in general, around the interwebs.

T - Some more GW2 tips from Bradley Jones.

R - levelseeker has a good review of...here goes... Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why'd You Steal Our Garbage?!

T - Spentchicken is new to the Hitman series, and is starting with Absolution. Sounds like he's enjoying it so far, and I really dig the leaderboard stuff, too.

V - mikewa has a short video where he gives his initial impressions on PS All Stars. And Ape Escape facts.

A - Scary Hair Studios...I don't know what to say.

M - It's always fun to watch NukaCola rock out in his VGdrum series. Mega Man X3, anyone?

F - FrankHowley's Wii U-shot video made it to the Front Page! Check out his POV horror film. It's well done!

C - Cyrus likes some pretty good games, but I'd like to see maybe a shorter list wherein he explains just why he likes them, wouldn't you?

L - BomberJacket has worked some GAEM JOORNHILISM magic here, and found out that Bioshock Infinite's cover may in fact be the lesser of several evils. INTRIGUE

C - Shinta posts a link to the video of Anita Sarkeesian's TED talk. Although the discussion has been exhausted a bit, I still would like to see something besides just a link.

Current "Bloggers Wanted" assignment
The Adaptation

Some things don't belong in this world and yet they are conjured time and again by humans that wish to pay them tribute. A video game, book, comic or TV show becomes popular and later becomes adapted to another medium entirely or, worse, a mobile phone spin-off.

Sometimes you get Telltale's The Walking Dead and other times you get Super Mario Bros.: The Movie -- one a great tribute to the comics and TV shows and the other had its soul stolen and made a '90s movie executive's slave.

And here comes another classic game series with hopes of becoming a Netflix hit as I brace myself and hope it doesn't turn out to be a miserable pile of secrets.

Castlevania is a beloved series and with Konami it's sort of a surprise they'd do anything with it at all after running out the people that made their games good and running the franchise into the ground soon after. Yet here we are with an anime series debuting this week and I'm kind of excited for it.

History should leave me a bit more cynical, sure. I remember the Street Fighter live-action movie, the Zelda cartoon and much more, but Mortal Kombat was perfect in its camp and The Witcher games are pretty faithful to their source material. We even have games being adapted into other kinds of games by different developers. Borderlands is now a looter-shooter and a point-and-click adeventure and that works really well, actually.

So for this month's "Bloggers wanted," we want you head over to the community blogs and tell us about your favorite adaptations of games to other mediums or even your favorite adaptation of another medium to games. Use "The Adaptation: [Your game/title here]" in the title and place "Bloggers Wanted" in the tags.

Enough talk, have at you!
