Hey ya'll at Destructoid!
I like gross and weird stuff. Maybe that's clear by my choice of surname being "Cannibal". If not, you know now. It surprises me how many people I meet shy away from the bizzare parts of our society. That might be one reason why I read Destructoid. It's a community of intellectuals who also love farts and buttholes. I've lurked for about 3 years now, but only posted on occasion. One of those few occasions involved writing hundreds of dirty poems and netted me a Lollipop Chainsaw swag box:
Okay... So things about me... hrmm...
Well, erm, I'm a boy.... and...
I'm currently studying animation and film at University, and hope to make something of my life at some point. I sometimes make 3D models, paintings, etc. My most recent project has been modeling and animating "Thing" from the Addams Family.
Here's also a drawing I made during Halloween of Marlon Brando:
Some of my favorite artists are H.R. Giger, Ralph Steadman, and James Unsworth (WARNING: Very NSFW).
I'm really glad when I find video games that are as "out there" as these kinds of artists. I love games like Sword and Sworcery, Saya not Uta, Middens, No More Heroes, Killer 7, and Earthbound. They take me to vastly other worlds that allow reflection that isn't often possible in the mainstream. They're also really cool. Like, your partner and weapon in Middens is a talking Videodrome-esque flesh gun, cool.
More conventional games are perfectly welcome too though. I've played quite a bit of Halo:CE and Advanced Warfare in the past week. As a random note, I love the dash that they've mounted to the left analogue stick. It allows conflicts that have been very short in past games to last just a little bit longer, by letting you escape at the last minute.
Recently, I discovered a youtube channel that makes short films exclusively with people that have disabilities. I have frequently wondered since if it makes me a terrible person for enjoying their videos so thoroughly, for what seems to be the "wrong" reasons. Perhaps. It does seem like a legitimate concern. Until I decide, it will go up on my mental shelf by thoughts like "Can I openly like Heavy Metal and Conan, and want more like it, when by contemporary terms they sexually objectify women?"
Anyways, I'm not a mean spirited or intolerant person, so hopefully that paragraph didn't reflect too poorly on me. I think if the world talks things out and avoids giving into compartmentalization we'll be alright.
I look forward to seeing you all around the site.
