The Orange Box (PC/Xbox 360/PS3 Valve, 2007)
If you picked this up for PC, you were the real winner. Now I know, some of you arent saying its a game, but its technically not a compilation either at least it wasnt when it first came out. For months, it was the only way to get Half-Life 2: Episode 2, Team Fortress 2 and Portal, period. For Xbox 360 and PS3 owners, it still is. But what makes The Orange Box the best damn game this decade is whats inside of it: what many consider the best stand-alone game of the decade in Half-Life 2, a game thats an incredibly tough and fun puzzle title in Portal, and a game thats not only one of the best FPS titles and MMO titles of the decade, but might be argued as a serious game of the decade candidate on its own, Team Fortress 2.
In fact, to be honest, Half-Life 2 was my original pick, but then I remembered the goodness inside The Orange Box and figured Id be stupid to pass up picking that. No one else has ever come close to offering so much greatness for so little, and with publisher greed being the rule of the day now, I doubt were ever going to see something like this again soon.
