All I saw over the weekend were a shitload of people in denial over HD DVD throwing in the towel, and the NUMBER ONE complaint I heard from people were the "lack of features" on Blu Ray.
WHAT IS THE BIG GODDAMN DEAL OVER SUPPLEMENTAL FEATURES?!?!
You bought a movie. Why is the movie not in the least bit important in your purchasing decision on buying a release?
I'm not going to watch Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix over the internet with a bunch of yahoos while in text chat.
I do not want to watch 300 with all the special effects turned off.
I do not want to buy an Evan Almighty branded bible while watching the movie.
I want my movie, in HD, with excellent sound. And on one format.
I don't give a shit about menu interactivity, bonus features, zoomy menus, or being able to reedit my favorite scenes in a loop.
They can release every fucking film as a barebones title with an excellent transfer and you won't hear a peep out of me. You know what the ONE special feature that I've gone out of my way to watch was? A documentary on Clockwork Orange on Malcolm McDowell's acting career.
That's really about it. I don't care about screen tests, green screen footage, or bad commercials for the soundtrack.
I don't even know what's on the second disc of my copies of Superbad or Pirates of the Caribbean. And frankly, I don't care.
And neither should you. It's all marketing adverts and self-congratulatory fluff to pad out the release.
