Black is the new Black: Criterion to possibly make a sequel

Recommended Videos

In case you don’t remember (understandable since it was quite forgettable), Black was a sleek and good-looking FPS from Criterion back in the last generation that was lauded for its destructible environments. It was a particularly mediocre affair, but it looked amazing for its time, and apparently Criterion could be delivering a sequel.

Criterion’s Web site temporarily displayed a listing for Black: Second Mission before tearing it down like a much lauded destructible environment. The game is allegedly scheduled for a 2009 release on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

The Burnout series developer has categorically denied working on a Black sequel in the past, and 2009 does seem pretty quick. However, we all know that industry people have no problem telling lies, so we needn’t take what Criterion says as gospel. I’ll be pretty interested in a sequel. There is a potentially good series if Criterion can make a new Black less boring.
