Bandai Namco to publish Dark Souls-like Necropolis

0

PC version delayed for release parity

Once upon a time, you could be playing Necropolis on March 17 -- just next month -- when it came to Steam. Those days are over now as Bandai Namco has jumped in to publish the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the four-player (drop-in, drop-out co-op) roguelike with some serious Dark Souls DNA (it even controls similarly).

Independent developer Harebrained Schemes (Shadowrun Returns) is still self-publishing its next title on PC, but that has been pushed back to release in step with the console versions that Bandai Namco's handling. Accordingly we've moved from a specific March release date to a more nebulous "summer 2016" window as Namco does its publishing thing.

Pretty interesting the latter would see the framework of one of its better known titles in an upcoming indie game and offer to help out with that final push out the door (there are long and arduous certification processes for getting games on either Xbox Live or PSN, as well as different ways of marketing on those marketplaces, etc).

Oh, plus there's a vomiting mechanic. It's great. Not to mention I'm already excited for the sequel, Necropolice.
