Even though we’d argue that Bloomin’ Onions are equivalent to a pound of fried cocaine, the land down under remains resolute in its commitment to keep drugs off it’s koala-infested streets and, more importantly, away from its videogame store shelves. Vogster Entertainment’s MMO Crimecraft is a perfect example of this hot and steamy Aussie desire, having just earned banned status from the Australian Classification Board for its usage of drugs as a device.
According to the ACB, Crimecraft was scrubbed because of “drug use related to incentives or rewards.” Specifically, it was the close depiction of the game’s fake drugs (used as “boosts”) to real drugs that forced the decision. Bummer.
On an up note, Australians-who-crave-Crimecraft, take a look outside. Check out that weird animal with the floppy pouch and consider: even though most of us have legal access to the MMO, we’ll never be able to claim to we live in the home of both Crocodile Dundee and the kangaroo. Rest easy, mates.
