E3 seems like it’s going to be a lot more fun than the last few years with a return to the old format (and apparently some new surprises). The ESA has earned some new recruits as well, but Atari has chosen not to exhibit at this year’s event at the last second. Speaking to Joystiq, Atari said that it was a “proactive decision to attend but not exhibit at this year’s E3 event”.
Speculation that the company is low on funds is rampant, but with Ghostbusters: The Video Game coming out shortly, it seems there’s a good possibility the game could do very well. More information will be available soon, but in the meantime we’ll just have to do without them this year. Oh well. We’ll have a drink for you at E3, Atari!
