Art Juice: Batman’s Eldritch City

Recommended Videos

[Every week (until I get bored), Art Juice takes a recent videogame story and provides an unremittingly artistic slant, telling us a little something about ourselves in the process … whether we want to know the truth or not!]

Recently, Yahoo Games broke the laws of physics by awarding Batman: Arkham City a 6/5. It is my grave fear that such a reckless disregard for numbers will tear the very fabric of our reality apart, creating what I call a Hyperbole Rift.

This rift is something I explore in my latest painting, a harsh reminder of what can happen when we try to play God. For Yahoo, it may seem harmless to claim that a videogame is somehow better than perfect, but toying with the universe in such an irresponsible way could have devastating effects — represented in this piece with Batman having become a gibbering thrall of madness. This is what Yahoo did to Batman! Yahoo Games turned Batman into the very stuff of insanity itself!

Or, it just further cheapened a game review industry that’s already pretty hard to respect.
