Animal Crossing: New Leaf gets a bizarre TV spot

Watch a real kid walk through a virtual toon town

Nintendo is gearing up for the release of the newest iteration in the Animal Crossing series on the 3DS, titled New Leaf. To help get people in the mood, the first commercial spot has appeared, and it’s…interesting, to say the least. It features a real kid walking through his virtual town, interacting with giant creepy CG animals. Also, the kid sees the legendary KK Slider just chilling on a tree rocking out and doesn’t even say hi? That’s just messed up, man.

As weird as it is to see a real kid interact with CG animals, the commercial gets the point of the game across. As the mayor in New Leaf you’ll build your own customizable town and interact with friends. I’ve been playing New Leaf recently myself, and I just got to the mayor phase, when the game really opens up like the series never has before. Expect our full review from Jim Sterling shortly before the game’s June 9 release.
