EVE Fanfest 2022

An in-person EVE Fanfest will return to Iceland in 2022

‘Proof of vaccination is required for the event’

Event organization is extremely tough and volatile right now, especially if we’re talking individual regional requirements for international travel. But CCP, the creator of EVE Online, is intent on bringing back one of their biggest events: EVE Fanfest 2022 is on, as of this week.

CCP reminds fans that this is the first in-person event since the Invasion World Tour in 2019, so it’s been a while since EVE fans have met up in person. The most interesting part of this announcement? It’s going to be held in Laugardalshöll Sport Center (the spot that the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational was held), and not the Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre: the sport center is actually a 10-minute drive down the road from the Harpa.

Here’s the official statement on safety:

“CCP is working with local authorities and taking COVID-19 safety measures for EVE Fanfest 2022. To attend the event, proof of vaccination is required. CCP is actively monitoring the pandemic and will provide further guidance according to Iceland’s national guidelines as the event grows closer.”

Just as an FYI, non-Icelandic citizens need to provide proof of vaccination to even enter the country, on top of a 72-hour-fresh negative test. Of course, this is all provisionally set based on how things are now. Iceland and whatever country fans are traveling from might have unique requirements that hamper travel, and the world could be very different in May of 2022. For now, CCP is hopeful.
