Possibly hoping to capitalize on the negative press surrounding Ubisoft’s DRM, Sega has revealed that Obsidian’s Alpha Protocol will have a considerably more acceptable set of anti-piracy measures when it hits the PC later this year. At the very least, you won’t be chained to an Internet connection for the duration of your game.
Alpha Protocol will certainly require you to be online when activating it, but once that’s done, you’re free to play under any circumstances. The game also has an install limit of five, with the proviso that you can un-install from computers and get your allowance back. The publisher plans to eradicate all DRM measures two years after the game is released.
Hey, it’s better than what Ubisoft is offering, and Sega has to be counting on us recognizing that. What do you say? Is this DRM acceptable, or does it still offend your eyes?
