As this new trailer for Gas Powered Games’ Supreme Commander 2 reminds us, the real-time strategy title has a story. Consider me simple-minded if you like, but when my thoughts come into contact with this game, humans are nowhere to be found.
An army of mechanical spiderlings? Um, yes! The remains of a UFO-shaped robot plummeting toward the battlefield? Relevant to my interests, you could say. Conflict between human factions? It’s not far from the truth to say I may involuntarily zone out after witnessing such events unfold.
As discussed in Matt’s preview, a worthwhile narrative is something the studio desperately wants to tell in Supreme Commander 2. If they can pull it off, more power to them. While they’re celebrating, I’ll be too busy crushing all those who oppose my army of iron giants to notice.
