Ubisoft Reflections is making a sequel to its chipper platform-adventure Grow Home. I caught the announcement trailer out of E3, but with everything else happening that week, it quickly slipped out of mind. I'm sure some of you missed it al...   read

It has been almost a year since the Kickstarter for Banjo-Kazooie-like Yooka-Laylee closed, but studio Playtonic has been mostly quiet about it, aside from the occasional new character reveal. Today the studio let loose some screenshots "re...   read

If you miss Kirby's Dream Course, take a look at Bulby

Kirby's Dream Course holds a special place in gaming history. Despite releasing more than 20 years ago and featuring a unique gameplay hook, it didn't see many copycats. Sure, there have been other golf games, but nothing has been quite lik...   read

Wii eShop darlings LostWinds and LostWinds 2 out now on Steam

Ages and ages ago, LostWinds debuted on the Wii eShop. It got some critical acclaim back then, including from our now-defunct retro podcast RetroForceGO! Since then, it and its sequel Winter of the Melodias have shown up on mobile platforms...   read

Deadlight returns with a director's cut this June

As much as it's a surprise to see Deep Silver and Abstraction bring back Deadlight of all things with an enhanced edition, I wouldn't mind it if we got more of these Xbox Live Arcade revivals. Folks who went through the last console genera...   read

Whoa, where did Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight come from?

It's not every day I come across a cool-looking new game that turns out to be a part of a long-running series, but Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight is precisely that. It's the fourth installment in Bombservice's line of 2D action-platf...   read

I thought I was tired of roguelike platformers, but GoNNER suggests otherwise

As much as I don't think I need another super-tough platformer with roguelike elements in my life, maybe I do! I dig the unusual art and clickety-clackety sound design of GoNNER. Screenshots don't do the aesthetic much justice. This trailer...   read

Devolver shows off Downwell running on PlayStation Vita

Steven mentioned in his review that he would buy and carry around a dedicated handheld for Downwell. I've had the thought that it would be great on a Wii U GamePad oriented vertically. This might be the closest either of us will get to that...   read

New Yooka-Laylee character channels old school graphics

Mushroom 11's world is beautiful desolation

Every so often a game comes along that lends itself to a big ol' screenshot gallery. To fit the bill, a game obviously needs to look good, but it also helps if it has a simple control scheme that allows easy access to the F12 key. Typically...   read

Feast your eyes on sci-fi platformer-RPG Wanderer

When it comes to pixel art, there is good stuff and there is bad stuff. Recently launched on Kickstarter, Wanderer falls easily into the former category. I just love the look of the pixelated characters on the more painterly backgrounds. On...   read

Activision publishing companion game to this year's Peanuts Movie
