Marvel has shown over and over that it can dig deep into its canon and make a hit film, and with Avengers: Infinity War turning out to be a Thanos movie, it's the perfect time for them to dive into the Eternals. Thanos is an Etern...

Last week for Avengers: Infinity War to be on top?

As you would expect thanks to no competition and resound popularity, Avengers: Infinity War is landing back on top of the box office this weekend. The movie only dropped a respectable 46.1 percent in its third frame, and opened with a ...

Fox just cancelled two of the best comedies on TV

Yesterday Fox decided it wanted to kill the majority of its quality comedy shows by cancelling both The Last Man on Earth and Brooklyn 99. This is in a world where The Big Bang Theory, a show that is basically just repeating the same j...

Sherlock Holmes 3 will be here Christmas 2020

Sherlock Holmes 3 has been talked about since before the second film landed, but Robert Downey Jr. being so busy being Iron Man has meant the film has been shelved for years now. What was supposed to be a trilogy released close to each...

Review: Nintendo Labo - Variety Kit

You're probably wondering why this review of Nintendo Labo - Variety Kit is so late. Well, it was going to be late from the start, since there was no review copy. So instead of getting my review up the second I completed all of the car...

Infinity War crosses the billion dollar mark in record time

Avengers: Infinity War made more money this past week, crossing the billion dollar mark a full day before The Force Awakens did it and breaking the record by reaching it in only 11 days. With a hearty $112,474,000 dollars over the week...

Guess what movie came in number one this weekend

We all knew that Avengers: Infinity War was going to demolish the box office, which it did to a tune of $250 million, but what's stunning is that it actually out performed expectations. Yes, a movie with stunningly high expectations, d...

Review: Avengers: Infinity War

Yes, I invoked The Last Jedi, and no that's not because I want to instantly guarantee 11 million comments on the post. It's because, like that film but to a lesser extent, Avengers: Infinity War is not the movie you're expecting, often...

Review in Progress: Nintendo Labo - Variety Kit

Nintendo Labo has a lot of stuff crammed into its box. I initially thought I'd sit down with my son today and whip up a few cardboard creations, play the games, and then write this review. After making our first larger Toy-Con, as Nint...

Starz cancels Ash vs Evil Dead after third season

Starz has announced that Ash vs Evil Dead will not be renewed for a fourth season. After the April 29 season finale the show will be cancelled, ending a run that painted our screens in prolific amounts of gore and blood, not to me...

Review: I Feel Pretty

You may or may not be a fan of Amy Schumer. I am. I find a lot of her humor insightful and hilarious. Her stand up special kind of sucked, though, and she's 50/50 on headlining movies so I was hoping to get back into enjoying her comedy wit...

David Leitch signs on to direct The Division movie

We're getting closer, everyone. Rampage threatened to be mildly entertaining, and that means we're just a few steps away from an actually good video game movie. It's gonna happen, and maybe it'll be The Division that does it? With...

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom trailer is bananas

I wasn't a huge fan of Jurassic World when it first came out, but I can tell you that I liked the fact that it ended with a t-rex, a raptor, and a genetically modified dino fighting it out in an obvious homage to early Hollywood monster mo...

A Quiet Place almost, almost bests Rampage

If you were some sort of charlatan psychic who predicted box office returns each weekend you would have gotten this weekend very wrong. Looking at the competition between Rampage, a Dwayne Johnson led disaster movie with giants monsters, an...

Review: Blumhouse's Truth or Dare

I'm not sure if it was hubris or clarity that led Jason Blum, CEO of Blumhouse, to plaster the studio name before its new movie Blumhouse's Truth or Dare. There have been a plethora of other horror films within the past five years(!) with t...

About Matthew Razakone of us since 2:04 PM on 04.03.2009

Matthew Razak is the Editor-in-Chief here at Flixist, meaning he gets to take credit for all this awesome even though its really the rest of the amazing staff that gets it done. He started as a community member back in the early days of Destructoid and bugged his way into writing for the site while being the Managing Editor over at That VideoGame Blog. He was also writing as a film critic for a local newspaper in the DC area and for Examiner.com. Finally after seven years of thinking silently to himself why the Modern Method network doesn't have a movie site he told Niero that we should start one. At the same time Fronz had been telling him to start a movie site too. The two of them teamed up with Niero's go ahead and now we have Flixist.

Matthew is totally open to any movie of any genre, but his wheelhouse is horror, action and James Bond. Doesn't sound too respectable but he's also got a fancy film degree from Vassar College and he's a member of the Washington Area Film Critics Society so that makes him semi-official in some capacity. He just really like movies and hopes that's enough to let you trust his opinion on them slightly.

He get asked these questions a lot when he tells people he writes for a movie blog, so:

Favorite movie: Evil Dead 2

Favorite franchise: Bond

OK, Favorite Bond movie: From Russia With Love

If you want to know the movies you have to see to get Flixist head here.

Currently backed upcoming crowdfunding projects:

Shenmue III
Xbox LIVE:Cowzilla3
Mii code:4283622287658660
