Review: Mirai

Let me ask you this; what's the difference between a kid's movie and a family movie? On the surface, both of those terms might seem interchangeable. A movie that's for kids is theoretically appropriate enough for a whole family to watch, bu...

I'm happy John Lasseter is leaving Disney

I've always had very conflicting feelings about Disney's former Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter. This was even before the frequent sexual harassment claims, which led him to take a six-month sabbatical last year before announcing ...

Deep Analysis: Watchmen

You can't find a more influential comic book than Watchmen. Watchmen was a 12 issue comic book limited series released from 1986-1987 that received critical acclaim upon its release. It was the first comic book to be seen by mainstream...

Review: Overlord

For the longest time, I didn't think that Overlord would release. Not because it was in production hell or anything like that, but because it was a part of J. J. Abrams Cloverfield universe and those movies can be announced years in advance...

In defense of jump scares in movies

There's nothing worse than a horror movie that isn't scary. When the entire purpose of your movie is to scare people and you fail to do that, then it's hard to deny that the movie completely failed at its job. There can be a lot of reason w...

Review: Castlevania (Season 2)

(Note: This is a spoiler-free review of the first six episodes of Castlevania Season 2, however, there will be spoilers for Season 1) The first season of Castlevania was a surprise that I'm not sure many people were expecting. It was a soli...

Teen Titans will fight Teen Titans Go! next year

Growing up in the early 2000's, Teen Titans was my jam. I distinctly remember watching it on Toonami on Saturday nights right alongside classics like Yu Yu Hakusho and Megas XLR. The action, plotlines, and comedy were all that my young, im...

RIP FuniRoll: Crunchyroll and Funimation split

Today is a sad day for anime fans. For the past two years, Funimation and Crunchyroll have had a partnership where they would share the streaming rights for various anime titles, but that partnership has come to an end. As of November 9, th...

Review: First Man

Another year, another epic sci-fi movie that rolls into theatres to rake up award nominations. Since 2013, there's been a trend to release at least one big sci-fi movie that either focuses on scientifically accurate space adventures or a hi...

NYCC: She-Ra mixes Lord of the Rings with Steven Universe

Looking back at most of the best kids shows from the 80's, I think it's safe to say that people don't remember them for their in-depth stories. They had eye-catching premises and some enjoyable characters (looking at you Starscream), ...

Ranking Sony's Spider-Man movies

If you're a fan of Spider-Man, it's been a pretty eventful year for you. There was the excellent Spider-Man on PS4, Dan Slott concluded his decade-long run for the character in comics, there's an upcoming animated Spider-Man movie...

About Jesse Labone of us since 10:03 PM on 11.13.2012

Is he sane? Is he even human? Does he have good taste? Who knows! He certainly doesn't...

He's a man of few words, but most of them are pretty introspective and attempt to look at either big issues going on in the world or why Spring Breakers is actually one of the best movies ever made.

He's invented over 330 rules that you must follow whenever you step into his house.

He has backed a few games on Kickstarter, but really only just Shantae: Half Genie Hero and Yooka Laylee (both were pretty good all thing's considered). Plus he's also an avid reader of Nintendo Force.

You'll never guess his favorite movie and if you do he'll buy you a Coke. But not a pop. He'll never buy you a pop.

Oh yeah, and he's also a Features Writer over on Flixist. That's... something he supposes.

He also prefers to speak in 3rd person narration on profiles because that's just the way he rolls. He's kind of an odd fellow like that.
