Final Fantasy IX has been rated for the PS4 by the Pan European Game Information Board, which means we could be getting a port to the console soon. FFIX, first released in 2000, has already had a solid PC port along with iOS ...

I've been flying through Fugl's voxel world to relax

I often play horror games, and while I enjoy them, they tend to leave me feeling tense and in need of something much lighter to take away the stress. After the crazy WTF-filled ride that was Observer, I was itching for something I could jus...

Crash Bandicoot is getting the Funko Pop! treatment

Does everything have a Funko Pop! now? Will everything eventually be a Funko Pop!? Am I a Funko Pop!? What is life? I have to admit I've fallen victim to the Funko craze, but mostly only when it comes to Star Wars. These, though... I might ...

Thimbleweed Park is coming to Nintendo Switch next week

I'm glad point-and-click adventures still exist, and I'm glad Ron Gilbert is still making them, especially when they spoof X-Files and feature a chronically cursing clown. It seems like only yesterday Gilbert was giving us a vague clue abou...

Review: Observer

Polish studio Bloober Team has a knack for making things come alive that aren't supposed to. In Layers of Fear, paintings distort in front of you. In Observer, digital advertisements do the same, and eventually, so do the environments ...

Devs reveal how they trick us in epic Twitter thread

[Warning: Mild Hellblade Spoilers] When Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice was released, the internet exploded over its permadeath mechanic -- die too many times and your save is wiped. Then, the internet exploded again when it found out the whol...

Sunless Skies just landed on Steam Early Access

Failbetter Games' sequel to Sunless Sea launches today on Steam Early Access and GOG Games in Development. Sunless Skies is a top-down RPG with a literary twist -- think FTL with more story. It takes place ten years after Sunless Sea, ...

Shinji Mikami would like to see God Hand on Steam

The past few years have seen a rise in PC gaming and digital distribution in Japan, partially due to the success of Dark Souls, as PC Gamer reported a few months ago. Seeing how well the Souls franchise performed on PC, along with visu...

Swallow things up as a hole in the ground in Donut County

Donut County has been in the works for a while. Jordan previewed it a couple of years ago, and at the time it looked relaxing and engaging, just the kind of thing I like to sink hours into. Now, it still looks relaxing and engaging but with...

Go green in Cities: Skylines expansion later this year

Aside from traffic, garbage is by far the biggest issue I've run into in Cities: Skylines. No matter how strategically I try to place landfills and incinerators, I always feel like I have an overabundance of pollution and too many garb...

Review: The Long Dark

The Long Dark is out of Early Access, and there have been some changes since it was initially released in 2014. Its world has grown bigger, its animal AI has grown smarter, and its story mode has remained a promising yet barely disting...

The Long Dark somehow makes me never want to go outside and desperately want to get outside at the same time.

Johnny Depp is producing a TV show based on The Secret World

Johnny Depp has been a musician, a director, a writer, a vampire, a pirate, a guy with scissors for hands, and proprietor of a chocolate factory, among other things. I'm not sure which of those he's actually been and which he hasn't, but he...

About Alyssa Hatmakerone of us since 12:52 PM on 08.12.2016

I'm here to write about games, not make hats. I used to go by Lysness in the community, where I proudly represented Alma Armas from VA-11 HALL-A and gushed about Crash Bandicoot. Horror and management sims are my jams.

Projects I've backed:
Southern Monsters
Agony
Cultist Simulator

I enjoy long stretches of road, dogs, Sriracha, and good stories in any form. When I'm not writing about games, I'm usually working on my manuscript, a YA horror novel about humans and their monsters.

Thanks for the gif, Angie!

Watch me be a twit!
