Turns out I'm actually enjoying ToS: Dawn of the New World. It has its issues, but being released 5 years after its prequel comes with certain improvements to combat and presentation. If this game is trash, then you need to play more games.

Got done with Tales of Symphonia. It's my second favorite Tales game out of the 5 I've played. It really is the prototypical Tales game I thought it'd be, but it's not as amazing I'd hoped. People have overhyped it a bit. Onto the sequel, I guess...

FotN: Lost Paradise (and its awesome super boss) done! While it suffers in the story department, it was refreshing to get new mechanics in a Yakuza game. Hokuto techniques are fun and the Yakuza cast was great in the new roles. Still, no tiger punching?

Nothing like losing half a day on your phone getting couragous and wanting a system update, which then results it needing a factory reset. At least I only lost my browser tabs.

Good lord, paying back the debt in FotN: Lost Paradise is the worst. I didn't ask for this amount of realism in my anime game about punching thugs until they explode!

Science is nothing but claiming something you hope is true, finding sources that support that belief and feeling really smug when you do.

Holy shit, Lost Paradise is rad. It has a rhythm minigame where you alternate between beating up thugs and healing people! You can charge Ken's dropkick in mid-air! You can pick up the SCREAMS of people and use it as a weapon to beat other people up!

Help. I'm stuck in the Yakuza hostess management pit again and I can't see a way out. I'm gonna be stuck here for HOURS. At least Kenshiro looks good in a suit.

I love the game references in Infamous: Festival of Blood. They really pin the game to the exact time of its release. Not pictured: Ghoul of Duty: Modern Gorefare.

While perusing the PSN sale, I saw that Infamous: Festival of Blood was on sale for cheap. I've long been interested in it and now it's in a good price range. Anyone here familiar with it? Seems short, but cool.

Resonance of Fate 4K is on sale on the EU PSN store and the PC version is still garbage. Only one thing to do.

Disregarding the actual game for bit, I find it really interesting that this trailer for Dark Devotion succinctly describes the game with this level of detail. Kinda wish more games pitched themselves like this. Might be too honest for some games though.

Lategame Sekiro bosses are just Souls-bosses with Must Style Mode turned on.

Say, what is the consensus on the Suffering games? I've played a bit of the first one and while it's not scary, it's certainly engaging thanks to the gunplay, the pacing and the monster design. But I never hear people talking about them for some reason.

Say what you will about GameStop, but at least they bothered to keep Lost Paradise in stock 6 months after release for a decent price. Now the question is, can I survive playing 3 Yakuza games in a single year? I managed 2 last year.

Yo, Troy Baker and Nolan North have a let's play channel and they're playing Uncharted!

I beat The Surge. Never before has a game kept me so captivated by being designed so poorly. Not one session went by without me being able to easily pinpoint something that was just designed wrong. It'd make a good final test for game design students.

Since it's free on PS+, I tried The Surge. It's neat, but quickly loses steam. Areas are samey, the plot is barely there, combos are clunky and the drop system is incredibly stingy. Not to mention that enemies usually take half your health per hit.

If anyone's curious what difference skill (and the skipping of some content) makes, I cleared the normal ending of Sekiro in 40 hours and the bad ending in 7 and a half hours. Gonna hold off doing the other two endings for a while.

Sekiro defeated! What a hell of a ride that was. While I can't make a proper call on it yet, I have to commend it for having the least amount of lame bosses in a From Software action game to date. Story was kinda lacking though, needed something more.

Eat dirt, Sekiro bonus boss! My fiery ambition burns brighter than your flames and my strategy tops your infernal fireballs! And after learning your tells, I demote you from Orphan of Kos class to Darkeater Midir class. All you have is a big health bar!

I am seriously running out of PS2 games to collect, but I'm glad to finally have these in my possession. They're prime spookathons. A shame only 2 got any rerelease love. They deserve a HD trilogy of some kind.

About Kerrik52one of us since 3:12 AM on 02.28.2016

Greetings, one and all. I'm known as Kerrik52 around these parts and I think I'm pretty swell, for a Swedish dude.

I love all games, except the bad ones. I play games when possible, thinking I'll eventually break into heaven. I'm currently studying computer science.

I have written some blogs here exploring old games by From Software with more to come later. Not to mention my "salty bitching" series on the Souls-games.

I also have a little Youtube channel bearing my name that mostly contains videos related to my blogs.

At present, I am writing weekly reviews, which is a fun exercise.

I some games/series I love are:

Dark Souls
God Hand
Resident Evil 4
Tales of Eternia
Kingdom Hearts
Jak & Daxter
King's Field
Devil May Cry
Legacy of Kain
Shadow Hearts
Shin Megami Tensei
Legend of Heroes
Ape Escape

I have a very low standard for movies, but I have some favorites. These include:

The Secret Life of Walter Witty
Pooh's Grand Adventure
Scott Pilgrim VS the World

The last TV shows I watched were House, Mythbusters and Fringe.

Anime on the other hand, is something I watch often. I like:

Gonna Be the Twintail
Black Rock Shooter
Fist of the Northstar

I don't read very much anymore, but I like Asimov and Lovecraft.

Music-wise I'm an apostle of Dio and the German power metal scene. Other favorites include:

Gamma Ray
Iron Savior
Freedom Call
Axel Rudi Pell

Go ahead and share a piece of your world with me and I'll pay back in kind. Don't be deterred if I answer you in a wall of text though. I despise unfulfilling writing and will do all it takes to make my points.
