With Cold Steel IV being a few days away, I decided to look deep within my backlog for something quick to try and probably give up on. Turns out that Bio Menace is pretty good as far as 90s PC platformers go. It's very goofy and has humane checkpointing.

90 hours later and Cold Steel 3 has been bested, a week before 4 is out. It was quite good and redeems a few aspects of the first 2, which was a welcome sight. But holy shit has the ending drained my soul. I'm so glad I waited on playing it until 4 is out

Nothing like a crash during your Sewer Crystal hunt to completely kill your interest in your current R&C 3 playthrough. The Ratchet collection really is the worst. These games deserve better and I don't think they can be emulated well either.

Traveller In Playtime – MediEvil: Resurrection

MediEvil: Resurrection is a remake of the original MediEvil developed by SCE Cambridge Studio and published by Sony for the PSP in 2005, 7 years after the original. The story is largely the same, focusing on the redemptive adventure of...

Grab it while it exists!

Well, the Dead Space 3 DLC was all right (as far as DS3 content goes), but it reminded me of why DLC has such a bad rap outside of From Software games. It's just so short. Guess I should pour one out for Visceral since I'm finally done with the series.

I used the Dead Space 2 DLC (which was pretty lame) as an excuse to play with some weapons. The flamethrower has its place in DS2, but the Detonator and sniper rifle do not work with this encounter design.

Since the PS3 shopping experience is about to become terrible, I decided to pick up some console-exclusive DLC, the DS3 Epilogue and a non-buggy version of Stranger's Wrath. I also recommend that people pick up BG&E HD, though that might be better on Xbox

I see I was posessed by Dango while I slept. I hope that defense holds up in court...

Traveler In Playtime: Siren: Blood Curse

Siren: Blood Curse is a survival-horror game developed by SCE Japan Studio and published by Sony for the PS3 in 2008. It's a remake of the original Siren that goes through the same basic plot with the addition of a bunch of new America...

I've played Cold Steel 3 all week and 37 hours in, I've only begun chapter 3. I forgot just how girthy these games can be. 90 hours to go. But it's good stuff and not just because the new CCG Magic clone is virtual crack compared to old card game.

I finally broke the seal on Cold Steel 3 and it's wonderful. It's been so long since I got to move forward in the timeline of this series, not to mention run around in this engine. I've played all day and I'm still in chapter 1, but that's ok.

The After Years wasn't bad in the way I expected. I thought it'd be a terrible fanfic story about Cecil's son and not a neat little epilogue. Sadly, it recycles stuff a lot and refuses to give you a decent party for the longest time.

Mission complete! I dragged my friend through TitS SC as well, giving him some much needed closure while keeping the door open for more. I think it's every Falcom fan's duty to spread the good word. Speaking of good, this means I am free to start CS3 now!

My massive blog of the month has been deployed. It's about video games and the way I interacted with them as a child. Enjoy, it'll only take you a pair of a few minutes to get through it. ^_^

Is there a greater metaphore for life than running around in circles in a supermarket looking for honey while trying not to shit yourself? Suffice to say, today was an adventure. But I shall emerge victorious. As soon as I manage to leave this bathroom.

After wrestling with the terrible PC port that takes a minute to boot and refuses to work in fullscreen, I finally played some Katamari Damacy. It's a joy of a time (the music is incredible), but kinda short. #StripToid

I love it when horror games lift the veil and do something silly. Unlocking this song was a bit annoying, but still easier than the equivalent in the original. Apparently, people associate this song more with PS Home than the actual game.

Siren Blood Curse let's you do something I've never seen before. You can transfer real-life photos leading into the intro from an in-game phone to your HDD and look at them like a normal album. I also noticed the disc came with nice a documentary on it.

Lord fear me, I'm back on my bullshit. I have a 5000+ words blog ready to deploy in a week. I know writers who aim for approachable word counts and they're all cowards!

Holy shit, LocoRoco: Midnight Carnival was a journey. To think they looked at BuiBui Fort 3 from LocoRoco 2 and said: "You know what, we can do worse than this." The score-based bouncing has merit, but it's just too damn hard.

FF4 complete! Much more engaging than 3 and the start of the series as far as I'm concerned. I particularly liked the combat engine cutscenes and aweseome PSP sprites. Time to see if the rest of the Complete Collection is a trashfire or not...

About Kerrik52one of us since 3:12 AM on 02.28.2016

Greetings, one and all. I'm known as Kerrik52 around these parts and I'm Swedish dude with a bachelor's degree in computer science.

I play a lot of games, even the bad ones if they have something interesting to offer. I then write about them on this site for you all to read. I've written stuff about about a lot of genres, but if you need recommendations, I suggest my From Software Retrospective and my "Let's Bitch" series about the Souls-games. At present, I am mostly writing reviews, which is a fun exercise.

I also have a little Youtube channel bearing my name that mostly contains videos related to my blogs.

I'm mostly a character action game and JRPG player, but I try to keep my gaming diet varied. Here are some games/series I love:

Souls Games
God Hand
Resident Evil 4
Tales of
Ratchet & Clank
King's Field
Devil May Cry
Legacy of Kain
Spyro the Dragon
Ys
Shin Megami Tensei
Patapon
Legend of Heroes
Yakuza
Locoroco
Ape Escape

I have a very low standard for movies, but I have some favorites. These include:

Coraline
Tintin
The Secret Life of Walter Witty
Pooh's Grand Adventure
Scott Pilgrim VS the World

The last TV shows I watched were House, Mythbusters and Fringe.

Anime on the other hand, is something I watch a decent amount of. I like:

Symphogear
Jojo
Nichijou
WIXOSS
Black Rock Shooter
Nobunagun
Airmaster
Fist of the Northstar

I don't read very much anymore, but I like Asimov and Lovecraft.

Music-wise I'm an apostle of Dio and the German power metal scene. Other favorites include:

Gamma Ray
Iron Savior
Freedom Call
Dreamtale
Axel Rudi Pell
Edguy
Avantasia

Go ahead and share a piece of your world with me and I'll pay back in kind. Don't be deterred if I answer you in a wall of text though. I just can't help it sometimes.
