Review: Alien: Covenant

[Ed Note: Film Review]  As reviled as it is (justifiably or not), Prometheus deserves a little pass for being unlike its Alien siblings in large part because of its branding. It may be in the same canon, but it&rsqu...

Why you shouldn't play Beyond: Two Souls more than once

Before Heavy Rain’s release, Quantic Dream founder David Cage said that he didn’t want players to go through the story more than once. “It’s going to be unique to you. It’s really the story you decided to write...

Can Battlefield 4's narrative be relevant after Spec Ops?

In lieu of partying or whatever it is college kids are supposed to be doing, I decided that my number one priority this spring break would be to to replay Spec Ops: The Line. I joined the Spec Ops party a bit late, but the narrative re...

How $250 could still be too much for a Wii U

About Alec Kubas-Meyerone of us since 6:27 PM on 12.19.2011

Although more often a film critic/writer/whatever (he is an Editor-at-Large over at Destructoid's film-centric sister site, Flixist), videogames are a rather important part of Alec's life. In fact, he ended up getting the Flixist gig as a direct result of a paper he wrote on the influences of videogames on films and the film industry (way back in early 2011 when it was a bit less clear than it is now). He also writes over-long, fairly pretentious things about them, mostly at The Daily Beast or B&H's Explora blog.

Alec also makes movies, but he doesn't make games.
