So
Giant Bomb has launched, Giant Bomb appears to be the work of Jeff Gertsman and co. after his loud departure from Gamespot last year. After his departure, others follow him and I can say that pretty much the best editors of Gamespot have leave Gamespot since then, anyway not all of them went into the Giant Bomb project.
Now, back to the site, have you been there? It appears that the main idea is to create a wikipedia for games. You have to be registered to edit it but on the other hand for every edit you want to make someone has to approve it, so is not an edit, is a submision until some moderator agrees with it.
You can allready imagine that they are overflowed with all the submissions and interestingly enough they didnt anticipate that 14.000 internet monkeys typing would make a rather large submissions. So they have now some people working in the submissions and moderations, etc, etc.
This is a great idea, but I feel that wikipedia is still better since is mostly open ("mostly" because moderation in wikipedia can get stupid). Now, I will try to follow the idea, but I have to say that the comunity side of the site and navigation feel a litttle bit broken. Forums should be organized like, you know, forums and not that incredible desorganized thing. The comunity blogs are not easy to find (because of the navigation you get lost pretty quickly). And the site is not fast enough yet, it is better than it was at the beggining of the week, but still sometimes it takes forever.
In the end we will have to wait and see. But it gives some great ideas of what to do with our destructoid site.
