Slight beef with PS3 High Stakes on the Vegas Strip: Poker Edition Download

Like many other with the Sony Summer sales I jumped on to download a couple of titles I had missed. One being High Stakes on the Vegas Strip: Poker Edition the other being Pixeljunk monsters. The download for monsters was a tiny 60 MB for what seems to be a great game. And High stakes especially being a 3d game was not a terrible download at 309 MB.

But it my opinion it was 309 MB too much or 10 MB too little. Allow me to expand on this as many people have seen titles like this on the other consoles when you launch a game it instantly needs patched, unfortionatly though on this game its 319 MB that needs patch and furthermore this is a patch you cannot background download. But even that I do not totally take issue with. But take a look at the below image and you will see what I do have an issue with.

Sorry if the quality is sub par only have a cell phone camera.

After installing the game it now takes up 319 MB of space not the 319 + the 309 of the original. So this leads me to believe this is not a patch persay but a full download of a patched version. I am pretty sure games like Super Stardust HD have done this too. But the problem here is this I just bought the game why isn't the patched version the one offered for download.

Now this isnt the end of the world but it does irk me at the inability to make decent size patch for this game and some others. I have never had downloads like this on my 360 or PC games as those patches are generally small patches(at least smaller than the original download). I can only suspect that either they did not build a path for upgrade into their architecture of the game or the encrytion they use just does not allow for it. I hope this is addressed in future games.

Sorry end of rant.

About konchuone of us since 5:20 PM on 07.24.2007

I have been a gamer for as about as long as I can remember. Started on an Intelevision my father picked up for me and my sister at a garage sale. I played countless hours of Baseball(when I was playing with my sister) and Astromash by myself. I moved onto a Nes a little later than everyone else had to get by on a Atari 2600 but had started to collect a respectable amount of retro systems Atari 5600 and 7800, Magnavox Odyssey 2, and countless generic Pongs and countless games for all of them from a really cool swap meet. But Nes definitely holds a special place for me cause I wanted one for so long. As soon as I was able to buy my own stuff by mowing yards etc I have went overboard and really haven't slowed down yet.

I am an owner of all the consoles I like them all though I may occationally hate on particular console makers time to time when I feel they have lost there way or just did something stupid. I particularly do not like the hardcore fan-boys those that the truth means nothing to or are blind to it. People shouldn't dis great games just because of their platform.

I play just about every type of game out there with the exception of sports titles though I have been known to dabble with them from time to time more on the fantasy variety like Hotshots Golf or the Mario "insert sport here"(can't wait for Mario Marco Polo). My favorite Genre has to be rhythm games followed by action adventures and platformers but I also enjoy racing games(Interstate 76 is probably my all time favorite car game which is saying something I'm an indecisive person(Interstate 82 would probably be the biggest let down for a car game))and RPG's, Puzzlers etc.

I am also an anime fan really both have fueled each other. I really like comedy the best though serious titles do have there moments. I have weirded friends out with Sexy Commando Gokkudokun and corrupted people with Ebichu.
