I was watching the excellent Brainiac: Science Abuse at work today when a big flashy ad for the Championship Gaming Series popped up. I'm very happy to have this on proper TV that I can watch without fear of my soul leaving (I don't watch Pulse again until they dump the Conventioneers). It also gives me something to do on Monday nights.
CGS starts on Sky Two this coming Monday at 10pm. So how is this irony?
Well, Sky Two is a channel only available on Sky (Freeview gets Sky Three and Virgin Media gets naff all) which is the TV service operated by BSkyB which is owned by News Corp which is owned by your friend and mine, Rupert Murdoch. Papal Knight and proprieter of The Sun 'newspaper' and Fox News, both standard bearers in the war against videogames as we all know.
For Murdoch to be screening pro gaming, however indirectly is some beautiful hypocracy. Still, I like watching pro gamers so I don't mind.
