Baten Kaitos. Should I keep playing?

Hey guys,

So, I recently beat No More Heroes (awesome- you should all do it) and I have quite a backlog to get to. Now, I was originally going to return to Beyond Good and Evil (which I started a few weeks back because I found that and Shadow of the Colossus at EB for 10 bucks EACH!). But I was looking through the games I've started and realized that I was quite into Baten Kaitos. 10hrs in. I put it in and was reminded of how beautiful the game is, my awe was quenched by the battle system a few minutes later.

I had struggled with it before but I played for a good 3 hours last night and I have to say I find it mildly intriguing- Its a very different sort of strategy. I was overwhelmed when I first returned to the game but I think I've gotten a hang of this system, its challenging. Now My question to the community is- should I keep going? The dialogue is pretty terrible, voice acting is worse (thankfully you can shut it off), and characters are typical if not cliche (in a terrible way).

It did get interesting. The castle is under siege and I was wondering if it's worth investing my time in. Does the game and story evolve or is it simply going to remain 'okay'.

I've got other games to play so please let me know!

Hey Dtoid. Welcome to perritoid!

I'm a 23 year old artist/teacher. While in University I experimented mostly with Animation, Video, and Games.

The lovely [dearly departed] Anthony Burch* featured the fruits of my experimentation here on Destructoid as part of the Indie Nation Series Which probably is one of the coolest things that has ever happened to me! One of many reasons why I love Destructoid.

*The [formerly] Resident Person Named Anthony Who Isn't Anthony Perri.

My first console was the SNES. It remains my favourite, and I've been playing games ever since without pause. Recently I've been a little burned out on the modern sensibilities of a suddenly overwhelmingly Western market. Most of the HD games don't appeal to me.

I currently live in Korea where I teach english and avoid Starcraft [and the north].
