Assessins Creed for the PC

So yeah, we PC gamers we get our games usually later, if we are lucky enough for developers to "port" us a game in the first place.
But I live with it because I like my mouse and keyboard. So here are some thoughts of AC for the PC.

Back to AC. The game looks good. Ok, so I have what I believe is a nice PC, a core2duo e5550 with 2gb and a nvidia 8800GTS 320ram... but really, it looks neat, the animations of the characters, the details of those ancient cities are awesome and everything.
Now I can forgive them for the history, really I can, maybe it covers to some degree a lack of ideas of how to limit the world for the gamer, or maybe they were trying to make it more interesting and appeal to the sci-fi core... I dont know for sure what they had in mind when they came up with the history, but is not the weakest point of the game.

Everything is shiny and nice, Altair looks great, the cities are big and the character animations neat. My only problem is that I cant get a full screen when playing with Altair (everythig works fine), but the game thinks that I, for some reason, dont deserve to have a full screen so I feel like watching a dvd on a high def TV... you know, with the black strips over the image.
I can imagine that someone did his history homework and researched the cities at the time. The ideas behind some concepts like jumping and climbing everything are interesting.
Combat is OK, Im not very good at combos, really, so I wont judge the game on this one because I sort of suck balls at it. The killing sequences are cool, I just love to jump behind a guy with my "finger-knife"... thats cool killing, I wish I could have a finger-knife and go finger-knifing everyone from behind like Altair.
The main problem of course is that everything gets too old too fast: 1)go to the city, 2) get inside with the help of some guys dressed in white, 3) save a few citizens, 4)get to view points, 5) go to the assessins headquarters, 6) some side mission maybe?, 7) kill the target.... repeat.

And then all those special details of the cities become old very fast because in every city you have to do the same thing... all the levels so far are in daylight, no night levels, bigg dissapointment, doesnt the sun set? And because of the repetitive gameplay over and over again (im tired of going to view points and climbing... Im allergic to climb high places so many times). Even the assessins headquarters are allways, so far, the same but with a different character.
I can go on, but if you played the game you know the deal, and if you dont I wont spoil repetitive fun for you.

So what happened to the stealth? old good stealth like Thief, but maybe a little bit simpler, without all the corpse hiding thingies and AI problems of Thief (I see why they tried to avoid Thief gameplay so much). Granted, they changed stealth for keeping a low profile.
But maybe more tactical... maybe an inventory, maybe forcing for once the player to keep it down and not so much the freeroam sandbox demo that end up making this a repetitive game. Not that fast you damn hardcore gamer, Mr. Cheesy has to smell ugly to attract little morrons that dont know shit and that something a little bit more complicated could have made their brains blow.

AC could have been a good game, the developers had something there for a level or two, but they stretched the concepts for the whole game and kept it very simple, too simple for my taste, so maybe is subjective. Lack of imagination ended up ruining everything that was there to be cool... even the architecture gets old very fast thanks to the repetitive gameplay. They made a sandbox and then give you rules, very annoying rules because those rules and the gameplay mechanics dont live up for what they could have been. Somethimes the game wants to be cinematic, and it achieves it, but then it wants to be very cinematic, like moving around Altair while he speaks is not so great.

I just said repetitive so many times that is starting to be repetitive.
Really, I just hope this isnt the new era of cheesy console games striking us with simple gameplay and shinny graphics that are there for a tech demo and for kids.

Now I will accept a fact just like everyone else should: I played this videogame because of the preview videos of the game with the ladie with nice tits. Iam a consumer whore.

About Veltone of us since 11:54 PM on 05.31.2007

Iam a gammer from the harsh uruguayan jungle (we dont even have a jungle down here, too cold, go and do some wikipedia of Uruguay). I used to do a podcast in spanish about videogames at Radio LevelUp but I dont do it anymore... anyway those guys are there still making it so you can give it a try if you understand spanish
And i can say "aca aca aca" and i know how to pronoaunce it well since im a spanish speaker, so Im a superior race.
A couple of idiots may find funny that I dont have good english grammar, but again, they are probably idiots since they only speak/write one language...

Most of my time in the internet is because of games. I love videogames so much that i sleep with my girlfriend and my ds, at the same time... i call that a "threesome" and my humor doesnt get anything better than that.
Mostly im a PC gamer, i was going to buy a 360 but faulty crappy hardware told me not to since if it goes RRoD here I would have lost my money, and as a man Im entitled to the sweat of my brow. I want to fuck the Wii and I believe the PS3 is going to be the first console in space.

In the "real" life (come on, internet now is part of our lives anyway...), I study medicine (takes a lot of time and I cant spend enough of my time playing videogames). Is not what you would call a marriage made in heaven, if I wanted to game more I should have sutdy something related to pcs, but I grown surrounded by computers and stuff so I chose the bio stuff instead. Anyway, little time to play video games if you dont want my biographical shit.

And the main reasson I play games for the story behind them. I love well written stories like Half Life series, of course Portal (kind of a Valve fan). Other great games include World Of Warcraft (not currently playing, actually I was never hardcore, but I enjoyed the experience a lot), and of course the classics like System Shock 2. Other great titles had stuck with me over the years, classics adventure games like Monkey Island, Indiana Jones and Grim Fandango.

So, best game experiences:
Half Life 2 (and the original Half Life of course).
System Shock 2
Grim Fandango
Indiana Jones and the Fate Of Atlantis
Monkey Island
