I'm sure the assumption is that Blu-Ray must be taking off like a rocket, but so far, I haven't heard any news about it, even on the HD sites.* I see announcements of new releases, but that's not new.
What I mean is that I'm not sure Blu-Ray is selling that much better now. If it was, I'm sure someone would be proudly touting it.
Is Blu-Ray actually just a niche product, and the industry doesn't want to admit it? No, telling me your personal experience doesn't answer that question. However much you enjoy how films look in HD, it isn't proof of whether or not HD films have broken 5% of the market share.
I just get the thought that the companies are just resting on their laurels now. They may not be, but if so, it's going to take more than just being the lone HD film format to get the interest of the DVD market. I hope the companies involved get that, but it's not looking that way right now.
* And definitely not on game boards, where it seemed so passionate before, but even then I knew it was just fanboy ranting half the time, than actual love for hi-def.
