Featuring Donkey Kong Country and mostly 80s synth pop.
Greetings fellow game music lovers,
I decided to make another separate entry for the remaining Donkey Kong findings.
First we have the final boss song of Donkey Kong Country (1994):
The beginning of the song is stereotypical sailor shanty music. Examples can be found for example in
J.S. Zamecnik, "Sailor Music" (from "Sam Fox Moving Picture Music, Vol. 1") (1914):
For the part at 0:38 I suspect electronic dance music like "Paradise Lost" from Akina Nakamori (1988):
although the general note combination can also be found in some psychedelic rock songs like Jackal - At the Station (1973):
The Donkey Kong Country 2 Castle Theme (1995)
reminds me a lot of Danny Elfmans Batman (1989) soundtrack stylistically
The final boss music of Donkey Kong Country 3 (1996): has some prominent chainsaw like samples:
Comparable to some synth pop stuff like Simple Minds - 70 Cities As Love Brings the Fall (1981):
Next week final cleanup for David Wise month.
Phil out.
