Phils Game/Pop Music Similarities #139 - Railroadmaniacs

Featuring Animaniacs (SNES) and several 50s artists.

Greetings fellow game music lovers,

todays phinding is from a game about one of the great cartoon shows of the 90s: Animaniacs. An affectionate homage to the cartoon short shows of the 1930s the show features goofball/slapstick-type comedy involving the 3 ambiguously dog-like main characters as well as a whole bunch of other equally weird personalities, some of which became more famous than the main cast (read: Pinky & The Brain ). Can be regarded as spiritual successor to Tiny Toon Adventures.

Consequently, video games had to follow for several consoles including the SNES. This version from 1997 features a song called "Flying Broomsticks" that plays during arrgh you can probably tell by the name:

As with many songs from the soundtrack this is likely inspired by early 20th century novelty songs. As an example for what I mean I present you the song "In the Middle of the House" sung by Vaughn Monroe from 1956:

My Ding-A-Ling Dave Bartholomew (1952):

The movie has happy endings for most tormented characters. Check it out!

Phil out.
