Featuring Chrono Trigger and Jimmy Page.
Greetings fellow game music lovers,
after weeks of putting it off, I finally decided to move to the next month. And it is DUM DUM DUM
MITSUDA MONTH!!! ONE FINDING OF YASUNORI MITSUDA EVERY SUNDAY!!!
And right away, we will start with one of his major composing escapades: Chrono Trigger from 1995. We will start moderately with one of the themes that, despite not being overwhelmingly spectacular, is one many people have permanently in the ear because it plays at a place people return to very often during the game: The End Of Time, a supernatural place with several sidequests, saving opportunity and access to the final boss which can be considered as a base/refuge from a gameplay point:
There is a bass sequence in the ending theme of the second entry of our favourite vigilante movie series Death Wish from 1982, composed by Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, which I find suprisingly similar to the central note sequence of this theme:
I predict several Chrono entries for the next weeks, so stay tuned.
Phil out of time.
