Featuring Zelda 2 and Zelda 2 - The Adventure of Link.
Greetings fellow game music lovers,
for wednesday's update we return again to The Legend Of Zelda, in this case to the oddball of the series: Zelda 2, the Adventure of Link. Oddball not only due to the for the series unusual gameplay ( sidescrolling jump 'n run instead of top down ) but that the composer is not Koji Kondo but one of Nintendos 'other dudes', Akito Nakatsuka, who is known for several R&D1 and 3 titles such as Ice Climber and Mike Tyson's Punch Out.
It isn't a secret that many of his tunes have a distinctive 60s touch, such as the music that plays if you enter a house in one of the towns of the game:
It should be possible to find quite a number of songs that match the general style of this one as it mostly builds on the following attributes: 60s, psychedelic, soulish. One song that matches this style and the general notes used is the song "There's A Chance We Can Make It" by the psychedelic rock band "Blues Magoos" from 1967:
Funny, with his tastes he is not that far away from Hirokazu Tanaka. See his works for Metroid and Balloon Kid for example.
On sunday, more Megaman as usual.
Phil out.
