Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is a single-player, action-adventure game developed by Respawn Entertainment, mostly known for the Titanfall series. I was skeptical about Fallen Order; not because of Respawn Entertainment, but because of EA. The story in Titanfall 2 was spectacular so I knew this was going to be good as well, but EA’s history of “pay to win” and the placing of loot boxes and how they messed up Battlefront, made me skeptical. I’m so happy I was wrong! This has to be the best Star Wars game since The Force Unleashed.
You play as Jedi Padawan, Cal Kestis, who escaped the purge of Order 66 following the events of Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith. With the smooth gameplay, Metroidvania elements make the game challenging and fun. The game sometimes feels like I’m playing Dark Souls Mod of Uncharted in a Star Wars universe. You go to different planets that have their own enemies, fauna, and challenges. On the higher difficulties, the enemies get tougher and you need to learn the patterns for the bosses. Note: When browsing through the map enemies can still hit you. When playing through the game you will come across places where you go to meditate, rest, and spend your skill points; however, that is when all the enemies you defeated, come back to life and you’ll need to slay them once again. When you die you spawn by the meditation circle you were last at, and you have to get your experience points back from the enemy that killed you. If you die, the respawn time is kind of long but if you jump off a cliff you’ll immediately go back to the game just with less health.
Customisation, Skill Points, Force
You can customize your lightsaber with the color, emitter, switch, sleeve, and the overall material used. You can also customize your poncho and outfit as well as BD-1’s design. With the skill points, there are 3 categories: Force, Lightsaber, and Survival. In those categories you can choose from maxing your force, lightsaber moves to expanding Cals’ health.
Verdict:
Jedi Fallen Order has made me fall in love with the Star Wars universe once again. From the planets to the characters, it all makes the game unique and something spectacular that I haven’t seen and felt from a Star Wars game in a long time.
