Featuring Super Mario World 2 - Yoshi's Island and Public Image Ltd..
Greetings fellow game music lovers,
with the cold time of the year approaching again, the desire to leave for the island grows. How about Yoshi's Island, the second part of the Super Mario World duo (1995)? Green hills, snow covered mountains. Occasional child abduction. Ok, maybe not relax too much. How about some sightseeing? There are beautiful castles everywhere. And they have a spooky, revolving music that is still relaxing enough to send you sleeping between Chain Chomps and piranha plants:
I shall be honest: I think this song sounds like a heavily synthesized Musette. The windmill song from Zelda 64 probably also falls into this category. Unfortunately, I restrained myself until now from binge-hearing this type of music.
Instead, I present you the song "Radio 4" from the post-punk band Public Image Ltd. (1979). Aim for the background sound. (Note: The sequence is the central motif of the whole song, so you will several snippets with varying similarity):
