I've decided to bring some more Outtakes since I think they are at least worth a look:
1) Zelda 3 - A Link To The Past (1991):
Can - Aumgn (1971):
Maybe a little fat fetched, but I think it demonstrates the athmospheric style of the tune.
2) Mega Man 2 - Wily Stage 1 (1988):
I don't think I have to introduce this one. One of the most famous final stage themes in oldschool gaming.
Sadly, I haven't found a song yet that matches it exactly. On the other hand, I found tons of songs that have what I would call the "vibe" or "lost backing track" for it. Most of them 70s prog rock or disco. Thus, I limit myself to posting the two best samples:
Hawkwind - Paradox (1974):
Note: I recommend to hear this song in full. Near the end the resemblance becomes uncanny.
Jessica Williams - Queen of Fools (1979):
Maybe not as good as the Hawkwind one, but still good to know I think:
3) Final Fantasy 6 - Devil's Lab (1994):
Some people suspect this one to have been inspired by Queens "We Will Rock You" due to the oomph-oomph sound that closes a verse. However, I think I dound something slightly better in the form of the "I Just Wanna Make Love to You" version from Muddy Waters (1968):
Next week back to normal schedule unless more requested.
