Phils Game Music Similarities #25 Forgotten Hazards

Once I promised that there will be a Resident Evil entry. Well, here it is. The first one, that is ;)

Resident Evil (known in Japan as Biohazard) is an action-horror game series starting with the first entry in 1996. It is one of the most successful Capcom and PSX franchises and one of the codifiers of the survival-horror video game genre.

As you know, the second entry in the series Resident Evil 2 (1998) has two parts: The first scenario, which you can play with either character Claire or Leon, and the second scenario, which wraps up the missing story parts and which has to be done with the remaining character.

During the second run, the credits are accompanied by a groovy hard rock/metal track that mentally prepares the player for the asskicking that will ensue against the villainous Umbrella corporation in Code Veronica and countless more sequels/spinoffs. It has a distinctive bass/guitar pattern that is accompanied by a distorted guitar in the background:

Introducing the song "Forgotten Sons" from the british rock / post-punk band Marillion. It features a very low pitched guitar that plays a recurring pattern in the foreground while a distored higher-pitched guitar plays variants in the background:

It may not be exactly the same sample, but the style is, I think, very reminiscent.

I will be on vacation for two weeks starting from wednesday rendering me unable to look for new stuff. But don't worry, I will still post something at the regular schedule. ;)

Update 14.09.2019:

Another entry from the song "Things Can Only Get Better" by Howard Jones from 1985 that also has pretty similar structures:
