Happy Decemberween, everybloody!
I know it’s a bit premature to be talking about end-of-year stuffs, but it’s been a long one. I’m not even talking about all the stuff that’s been going on in the news and online. Personally, it’s been paradoxically an incredibly long year for me while I simultaneously lose track of time more and more. MAGFest is in two weeks as of writing and I haven’t even prepared anything for it!
There were some good games this year, I guess? Haven’t played most of them. I only have a Switch, my 4-year old gaming PC, dwindling amounts of disposable income and an insane backlog. Plus, the gaming industry is trying its damnest to kill any joy I had in video games with more monetization bullshit.
What games can I remember from this year? Pokemon: Let’s Go Eevee and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate are obvious ones. Oh, and Deltarune! That was a great time! And…and Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon! Ah, that was fun! I’ll have to do a second playthrough, someday. Um…Timespinner is neat, but I haven’t finished it yet.
Also, Icons: Combat Arena…happened.
Look, I don’t have a list of games I’m anticipating for next year. I just want 2019 to be the year where I can enjoy video games again. Kingdom Hearts III is coming out next month, which will likely convince me to get a PS4, despite knowing better. It’s one of those games that we should have more of. No microtransactions, no season passes, no content carved out of the game and sold back to us as DLC. Just a fun video game that brings me nothing but joy. It’s…nice to look forward to a game in one of your favorite franchises without expecting the publisher to butcher it, for once.
Okay, I’m done rambling. Here’s what you all wrote for that week.
A - Virtua Fighter was very influential in the evolution of fighting games. As such, it’s no surprise that there are references to it everywhere. Virtual Kazama goes over all the times that the game has been referenced in other games and pop culture.
V - Are you still stuck on World of Light in the new Superb Smashing Boys? Worry not! TroyFullbuster made a few video guides with some tricks he uses to get through some of the tougher parts of the game.
There were quite a bunch of blogs for me to recap this week! If you'd be interested in helping us out, let us know in either the comments below! We'd really appreciate your help.
Have a wonderful Decemberween, everyone!
