Just as recently as last year, I saw most everyone posting on here about trying to wittle down their backlog. I honestly had very little if any experience with that. I was still gaming on the Xbox One at the time and didn't have much in the way of games. I remember I played through Dark Souls 3 probably ten times.
With the introduction of the PS4 into my life (thanks Dtoid!), I now have some idea what backlog really means. Between getting some nice games on Plus and having a lot of gift cards from my birthday and Christmas, I have a decent running backlog. That hasn't stopped me however from constantly looking at sales and what games are available in my price range.
I found myself the other night surfing through the PlayStation store and looking at what deals we're out there. I caught myself and literally said out loud to myself, "Why are you doing this? You have plenty of games!" After this realization and aha moment, I wrote out my list of games that need finished and how I intend to finish them.
That may sound crazy to you all to make a list of games and when to play them, but I'm very goal oriented and I make lists at work all the time. It's perfect for me and it will give me a sense of accomplishment to cross games off the list that I've completed. I've also drafted my wife to make sure that I'm not purchasing any cheap games until my current list is done. By our powers combine, maybe I can truly beat some games instead of looking for the next sweet deal.
* - This is an awesome blog. Just saying. Christopher Harper gives us his impressions and thoughts and how they've changed recently about Shovel Knight. He may not have gotten it at first, but thanks to the continued support and free add ons from the developer, Christopher gets it. Delay satisfaction is still satisfactions
M - Gamemaniac3434 decided to take a crack at this month's bloggers wanted. Turns out it was the perfect time for me to read this as I've just played through the Bioshock games again. GM goes over one of the best heel turns I can remember in video game history. Minor spoilers for anyone who hasn't played Bioshock
M - Nathan Drake is an awesome action game hero! But wait a minute...what if he isn't a hero? What if he's actually just a dick? Wes Tacos gives us some of his musings with some pretty convincing evidence as to why Mr. Drake may not be the hero he's cracked up to be.
M - JPF720 gives us a heel turn that has stuck with him and changed how he's looked at and thinks about video games and their stories. His story comes from Baten Kaotos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean an exclusive from the GameCube. This is an awesome story, with spoilers for anyone that may want to give the game a go
T - I never had the chance to play the Sega Genesis. I was a Nintendo kid at the time. Lord Spencer gives us his thoughts and reviews in this wonderful blog about the Sega Genesis. It's a nice reminder to myself and anyone else who never had the chance, what we were missing out on with the Genesis
Just remember, he who stands on toilet, is high on pot--Dere
